Countries around the world take vastly different approaches to how they deal with members of society who have broken the law. Some believe that building huge, uncomfortable prisons will act as a deterrent to potential offenders while containing those who have already been convicted… while others do the opposite, and build facilities that are far more comfortable and have a much larger focus on rehabilitation. Get ready to be surprised at the privileges some inmates are afforded, that at times are better than free people can access… as we take a tour around the 15 most luxurious prisons on earth.

I work with a former criminal in Norway, and i can say i love that Norway granted this man into my job. He sat 4 years in prison for minour criminals, and have been fully recovered from his crime. He have a job, making money trading watches and is highly liked by other on my working place. He have his own appartment now and i truly likes him. Upgrade i have seen last 10 year is impressive and i wish him good luck. He go a second chanse and he took it alot. Not criminal myself and i look at this way "he have done his punishmen" why should i jugde him.

I don't think that the elderly should have to work 8 hours a day but I do appreciate that they're getting up and not just laying in bed and dying off I think that's a great idea to have exercise Physical Therapy water therapy all that stuff for them that's important

ALwAYS remember the PURPOSE of a prison is SUPPOSED to be to keep society SAFE!!! Soooo everyone in America judging people because they have done time, did it make our society safe and then letting them out with NOTHING and a lot of PTSD does NOT help society at large. Almost impossible to not commit a crime when you have NOTHING getting out, and then have to comply to rules like getting a house and job with a criminal background. If you do not have good friends and family, you are SCREWED!!!

*I have never been to prison or jail but after watching Orange is the new Black I realised you can be caught up in a bad situation and end up behind bars. so I think some of these prisons are great for offering a place where hopefully the person will be rehabilitated before letting them back on the streets. so if little luxuries and not treating them like animals does that I'm all for it*

It’s hard to imagine any of those prisons being described as luxurious. It would be more realistic to describe some of them as humane.

I agree and disagree. I agree many prisons need to work on rehihabilititon more, and can definitely benefit from adding beneficial programs. However, some of these prisons are giving things that aren't even freedoms, they are privileges.
In America we don't go soley on punishment those would be like north koreas prisons where you truly dont come back out, I will admit we do the bear minimum of rehihabilititon.
But for me there needs to be a cut off line, I don't have the opportunity to go relax in a sauna or ski, if i knew the person who assulted me was getting those privileges instead of actual Rehihabilititon, of not being a psychopath. Like how does that help in the long run, they had those opportunities before committing crimes and if they didnt, then again to my point its a privilege, not rehihabilititoning freedoms.

Edited for this: The types of rehihabilititon in these would be amazing for juvenile detention centers, where they actually can participate in things they would be missing outside that are good developmental opportunities, I.E summer camps

That's why the place in Norway the Norwegian plays the last one on the list because it would be a tough transition to have something like a cottage and all the stuff and everything planned out for them it would be tough if when they get out they don't have anything to go to that's why they should incorporate a way of working and getting paid more than enough money and before they're let out they should be able to be set up with a place to go and a job before they leave the prison there should be no halfway house. The whole purpose is structure but you have to have it still in some ways when you get out I mean what the hell
