Harry Potter Soundtrack - Remus Lupin Theme (Complete)

I OWN NOTHING! This was a request. Music is by John Williams and is from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Complete Soundtrack. When I stumbled upon this theme while editing I was baffled because I never noticed it before and it isn't catalogued anywhere, but if you listen to the notes there is definitely a reoccurring theme. After careful consideration I decided to call this Remus Lupin's Theme, but it is also more so used to represent Harry's emotional connection to his parents and relatives.

The only reason I decided to call this Remus Lupin's Theme is because there are two other themes John Williams already created that are used in the Harry Potter Series to convey Harry's emotional connection with his parents (Family Portrait and Harry's Past) but this theme plays around Lupin at least four times in the film. It plays 3 times when Lupin is instructing Harry on how to cast the Patronus Charm (You'll mostly hear the notes in choral form for this) and it even plays specifically for Lupin near the end of the film when he resigns.

The thing is, this theme is also used when Harry tells Hermione he saw his father save him from the dementors, it plays after Harry overhears Sirius killed his parents, and during the scene where Lupin is instructing Harry, he chooses to think of his parents to cast the spell. All things considered, you could call this theme the Harry's Connection Theme or Remus Lupin's Theme. Both work! Enjoy!

I've also seen this referred to as the Patronus theme or Betrayal Theme.

I first noticed this after listening to the expanded collection and called it the “Betrayal Theme” on Wikipedia because of when it first plays, but it has connections to all those that were part of Harry’s past. Great job with all the themes!

Hey everyone! Thank you for helping me decide what to call this theme and to better understand all the different things it represents. I thought hard about it and I read everyone's comments. Honestly, everyone was right and had some very good points. I eventually only called this Remus Lupin's Theme because it is used directly around him the most, and Harry already has two other themes that were created that sort of were used as a representation of Harry's emotional connection to his parents and family (Family Portrait & Harry's Past). But honestly, I think this theme represents all of those things. Its definitely used for all of them in the film. So thank you all for your help!

Thank you so much for this playlist of themes. Have you done every theme and variation from the first three harry potter themes? If you have done all the harry potter themes from the first three movies, I would definitely suggest making videos of all themes with every restatement variation of the theme. I love listening to the expanded soundtrack, but I think it would be even better to have the option to only listen to the parts with themes and their variations. It sounds like some of your harry potter soundtrack videos have already done this, is that correct? If so, Iwould love to see videos like this for all the themes (restatements and variations included). Thanks!

I write with my own music mind and music style. I admire music cinema from child. I admire music anaylisis for music themes in every movie. I think music analysis is very important to film music, because music cinema is music for movies. My favourite music score when i saw first time is Harry Potter series with John Williams, father music cinema! I want to write my opinion for my favourite character in Harry Potter series, professor Lupin! Lupin Music theme, for me, is the Window's at the Past, music track. Its a music theme, with piccolo, and harpichord, strings, like character Lupin, softly picollo, and dramatic sense likes Lupin. Is very gentle, kind, softly and heartbreaking music theme, with picollo and we heard it every time! with Lupin's scenes! If you carrefully. It's everywhere with Lupin scenes in the movie. John Williams is a music master, and he write a softly music theme, with peace, for Lupin, with picollo, and harpichord, and the strings. I think the Window's at the Past music theme, music track have a double music, It's a music theme sometimes for Harry's Parents past, and mostly a softly dramatic with wisdom music theme for Lupin. Not forget. Lupin was one from the best friends Harry's parents! When Lupin leaves from Hogwart's we heard it, with music cover, with glockenspiel, music notes, for Window's at the past. Your choral music theme, in the video, i think is for Harry memories with parents. We heard it with patronum scenes. Maybe it's a some kind second theme for Lupin. If we heard it Window's at the past, music track we have my mind, Lupin. That music theme, with 7 notes, in picollo, is most important scenes with Lupin in the movie. It's on the bridje.
