Note that the big Noctua fan will fit the large case shown but not most smaller ones. The board is also XL and requires a larger case, so check the dimensions if not using the listed XL case. The cooler will also not clear 8 RAM DIMMS, so I'm using the 128GB kit. If going for 256GB, you'd need a different cooler with this motherboard.

Errata: To bond the two 25Gbe ports they likely need to be on separate Thunderbolt *controllers* so as not to saturate the controller (unless one controller can handle two ports at max speed!)

So much overkill, but with such good justification, making it exactly the right amount of overkill. Excellent setup Dave!

I swear Dave has to be one of the coolest dudes on YouTube!

Looks like a fantastic setup, speedy, functional, and very very tidy. Love It

Glad you mentioned the sound from the air compressor in this video. I commented in an earlier video with the link to a YT video on screaming at your hard drives. Also experienced the same hard drive degradation when a fan at the top of a server rack started making noise. Nearly had our ISP business fail until I found the fan and had it replaced by the CoLo provider.

Fascinating video, always a lot of fun to see just what all money can buy. You quite simply rock Dave, now back to my I3 18-year-old laptop.

Ahhh Dave, even if I am not very interested in the subject matter; I always enjoy the presentation! Keep up the good work :)

What an amazing setup Dave. That whole garage is a geeks dream.

That's a lot of kit and freaking great kit at that. I was half expecting you to have rigged up the Dell screen with 2 computer inputs shown side-by-side and the mouse would move from Mac to PC seamlessly using a network mouse protocol that *magically* would switch audio / usb etc. I so love what you've done overall. Re. LEDs - WOW. I was so happy back in 1986 building a simple flashing red LED (connect to a 9V battery) to put in my Dad's car to pretend there was a "sophisticated car alarm" installed. Ha, I doubt it fooled anybody. How things have changed. Great work dude.

All I can say is...holy shit! That's one KILLER setup. My only concern is, I'd hate to troubleshoot it to find one bad cable or a single bad component, (RAM, drive, port.) But still, AWESOME!

Somebody who I would like to emulate in the future. Crazy setup. I have a 10 Gbps network and an 8 port 4K KVM that 3 of them are connected to Windows PCs, 1 to a Win notebook, and 4 to Macs. But my setup is nowhere with what Dave got.

Just to be able to retire, have such a great place to live in, and can do what you want when you want and have hobbies like this. That is amazing.

Nice setup, I love the attention to detail and cleanness of it.
Video idea, given your extensive knowledge of Windows could you make video on creating a custom ISO and removing the “bloat” or if it’s even worth it. Like one of your drag races with stock windows 11 and a debloated version?

Cheers

I am not so often jealous of another's set-ups but man, yours is truly unique!

I use a software called Synergy to use my mouse, keyboard and clipboard from Linux to windows to mac. I have a separate monitor for each computer and the windows machine is a laptop. Works really well for my use case.

I need this in my life. What a fantastic set up.

I'm using parallels to run a Windows VM on my Mac - I rarely need windows for anything so it works nice enough but I just love your bulky set-up. I wonder how much all this cost you?

That setip is crazy, and I am not talking about the cacophony of lights. Nice work.

Props on XLR, such a great simple way of cutting noise.
