Lyrics:
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo

I'm packed and I'm holding, I'm smiling
She's living, she's golden, she lives for me
Says she lives for me
Ovation, her own motivation
She comes 'round and she goes down on me
And I make her smile like a drug for you
Do ever what you want to do, coming over you
Keep on smiling what we go through
One-stop to the rhythm that divides you

And I speak to you like the chorus to the verse
Chop another line like a coda with a curse
Come on like a freak show, takes the stage
We give them the games we play, she say

I want something else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kind of life, baby, baby
I want something else
I'm not listening when you say
Goodbye

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo

The sky was gold, it was rose
I was taking sips up into my nose
And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there
Smiling in the pictures you would take
Doing crystal meth will lift you up until you break
It won't stop, I won't come down, I keep stock
With a tick-tock rhythm, a bump for the drop
And then I bumped up, I took the hit that I was given
Then I bumped again, then I bumped again, I said

How do I get back there
To the place where I fell asleep inside you?
How do I get myself back to
The place where you said

I want something else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kind of life, baby, baby
I want something else
I'm not listening when you say
Goodbye

I believe in the sand beneath my toes
The beach gives a feeling, an earthy feeling
I believe in the faith that grows
And the four right chords can make me cry
When I'm with you I feel like I could die
And that would be alright, alright
And when the plane came in, she said she was crashing
The velvet it rips in the city
We tripped on the urge to feel alive
But now I'm struggling to survive
Those days you were wearing that velvet dress
You're the priestess, I must confess
Those little red panties, they pass the test
So slide up 'round the belly face down on the mattress

And I want something else
To get me through this life, baby
I want something else
Not listening when you say
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo

The sky was gold, it was rose
I was taking sips up into my nose
And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there
In the place, we used to start our lives

Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
(I want something else)

With hits like “Semi-Charmed Life”, “Jumper”, “How’s It Going To Be” and more, Third Eye Blind’s fresh take on alternative rock has delighted listeners everywhere since 1993. In recent years the band’s popularity has only grown with their most recent tour–Summer Gods–breaking their previous attendance records. During this 2019 tour the band donated a portion of the revenue from each ticket sold to off-set their carbon footprint in partnership with ClimeCo.

Of their latest full album, Screamer, lead singer Stephan Jenkins said: “My current mood resonates with rebellion, energy, courage, and risk.” Adding that “I seek to combine it with a percussive level of musical immediacy in this collection of songs to cultivate collective idealism and an unapologetic aspiration towards humanistic values.”

This is the most upbeat song about drug addiction, ever.

This song takes me back to ‘97. Twelve years old, living in a small town, riding my bike everywhere, my CD walkman, basketball after school, sleep overs at Greg’s house playing Resident Evil, going to the movies on my own every weekend. Happiest time of my life.

This song is from my kid's generation. I loved it then and I still love it today and I am 72 years old. Good music is good music no matter how old you are!

Dear God. Please take me back to the 90's. I was a kid and both my parents were still alive. I'd do anything to go back and enjoy just how special my childhood was.

I was a crystal meth addict for 6 years, and after relapse after relapse and finally jail and rehab I'm almost 1 year sober. I can truly listen to this song and appreciate its bittersweet message.

Thanks for all of the positive comments and likes on my post. It's now 2-7-24 and I just celebrated my 2 year sober anniversary on January 17th of this year. WE DO RECOVER! Blessings to all still struggling with addiction, you can do this!!

the fact that Disney put this as the trailer song for "Tigger's movie" without realizing it's a song about drug addiction is hilarious

Man, this was one of the most played songs of the entire decade. This thing was always on the radio in the late 90's.

This came out the spring of 97 played all summer I was in high school had my very first boyfriend & no cell phones, we walked to meet in the middle of the night. My bf looked like this guy too. I remember stopping & thinking it's never going to be this good again. That was the only time I ever did that . To say this Is the best time of my life. Take me back to the 90s. Before 9/11 before cell phones, social media & life was so fun & easy. I'm aware I sound like my parents talking about the 70s. I only hope when my kids are teens they can feel this way about their youth.

This song came out 3 years before I discovered meth. It was 10 years before I even knew what this song was really about. Now after 19 years of usage, I'm knocking on 5 years sober. Still love this song. Strength to everyone else battling addiction! 🙌🏽

The pure genius of this song still isn't fully appreciated: Every breakdown is different, different tones, instrumentation, dynamics, even what sounds like repetitive choruses have subtle nuances missed by most....none of this was accidental either. TEB's ability to play the same lick so many different ways is what really gives this song life. It's always familiar while always surprising.
