Like any other language, Russian has it's own proverbs. And if you translate them word by word, they sound pretty ridiculous and silly.

Tishe edesh, dalshe budesh is like the tortoise and the hare. Go slow like the tortoise, don't mess around like the hare, and you'll succeed.

I live in a rural area surrounded by farms. So... my favorite Russian proverb is: "To be ready for winter, prepare in summer." It is very applicable in the farming communities... even though I am about 45 minutes outside of Philly. My second favorite proverb is told to me by my friend, Oleg: "To be born in a shirt." My third Russian proverb is: "Trust, but verify".

Have you ever heard the phrase "you treat me like a mushroom. You keep me in the dark and feed me shit."

I love Russian proverbs and idioms. They often make even less sense than English ones. On a separate note, I must say that as a man, I know absolutely nothing about makeup and seldom even notice it. However when I watch your vids, for some reason I always notice how perfect your makeup looks. Have you considered going to cosmetology school? I think you have a real talent.

It's cool that you explain this clearly and funny but "an apple from an apple tree" is not the same as " like a father like a son".Cause the first phrase is suitable for all people (absolutely) and the second is not. When I talk to englishs peaking friends or read what people are writing on Twitter, instagram and so on, they always choose words that are appropriate to the specific case .I mean they can say "Like a father likea son", "Like a father like a daughter", Like a mother like a son", Like a mother like a daughter." Thats it :)
