(Above are affiliate links from the video! I earn a small commission from these, feel free to just search them from Amazon if you would prefer! 😎)

This video will teach you how to tie possibly the easiest fishing snell knot for certain situations, the No Knot Snell Knot! This knot can be used any time you need/want to snell your hook quickly and easily, with a strong knot, and this video will show you the tricks to tie it quickly and effectively! We will also go over how learning this knot will teach you how to pre-tie leader lines! This is one of the most widely used fishing knots which is easy/fast to tie and can be used to catch anything from trout, perch, panfish, bluegill, largemouth or smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, muskie, salmon, red snapper, mahi mahi, shark, tuna, snook, grouper, red and black drum, flounder, sheepshead, trigger fish, mackerel... basically anything you catch with a hook can be caught using this knot! Subscribe for more knots and tips, and thanks for watching!

Quick disclaimer: This is but one of many methods to successfully tie this knot, and it happens to be the best one I have found! I hope it works equally well for you, but if it doesn't, or if you have found something else that works better, I encourage you to stick to what works for you! I would always recommend practicing knots and testing their strength yourself to ensure you are comfortable with how they work, and to avoid flinging lures into the ocean on a failed knot (ask me how I know!). Knots take practice, so make sure you're comfortable with whatever you're tying prior to trusting it with your gear! If you have any questions about the knot, please post them below and I will do my best to answer them. I hope this is helpful, and tight lines!

Another common name for this knot is the " knotless" knot. It's only good for making leaders and can not be tied to your main line. I use it almost exclusively when making leaders. It's also very good for making hook links and hair rigs for carp fishing

Again....another fantastically taught/filmed video. Videos like this single-handedly legitimize YouTube.

This is pretty much how I tie all of my hooks, fast effective and strong. I generally do 6-10 wraps depending on line size. I started using this type of knot when I was making up 30 pickerel rigs up at a time and needed something fast, easy, repeatable and strong.

Can't figure out why that doesn't untie. What keeps the main line from feeding back thru the eye and allowing all the wraps to unravel?

0:08 what is the contrast power level of that 50 pound leader line which is monofilament and which is in his hads with a metal hook in his left arm . and all that on a black background on youtube with some subtitles for people who cant hear im glad im can hear so i don't need them but im glad it is usefull for someone because if they cant hear they can read which is good

It's important to start wrapping on the side where the hook eye is solid, not where it ends. That part is often sharp enough to cut your line.

Thank You so much. I do have severe issues with my hands, but you make this look so doable.

Best to lubricate the knot with either saliva or urine before tightening.

Examine that snell and see how that knot will loosen up. After pulling it tight then push back on the tag through the eye and the knot will come loose. Spent a half day trying to tie that on 5/0 circle with Berkley Big Game 40 lb. Can't be trusted to stay tight. IMHO!

Problem with this way is your leader can't be connected to you main line

Is it embarrassing that I can’t tie s*? But I love fishing 😭. I be watching videos, and feel so slow, and get worked up, because I can’t get it layered perfectly

I never understood the purpose of snells. With all the options available I'm not sure why you would want the body of the knot on the hookshank where sharp teeth can easily compromise the knot VS keeping it in a safer place above the eye of the hook.

Don't snell a J hook with a straight eye. They work by pulling the shank straight into the fish's mouth. Snelling on a straight eye turns the orientation of the hook because the line exits out the eye at an angle and you don't pull the hook in line with the shank anymore. Go look at ANY pre tied J hook. None of them are snelled on a straight eye hook.

Rubbish way of doing a snell. Internally wrapped snells (Line under the wraps) are way better and neater.
