Real talk, I didn't notice the difference in the backdrop until you brought it up! Nice job 👏

Not in a million years would I have thought psychic blades didn’t have the light property before this video. Even having read it several times, my brain just always inserted it apparently.

Fighting Styles are feats with the prerequisite of having the fighting style class feature. So you don’t need Fighting Initiate you can just take a Fighting Style Feat anytime you would take a feat if you meet the prerequisites.

As a DM, I would allow both the light property for psychic blades AND the scaling for damage.

Having watched treantmonks videos, I've come to spread the good word that rogues are NOT in fact bad but hold their own quite well. Both the true strike ranged version and the dual wielder. Now let's enjoy Colby❤.

Came for the build, stayed for the smorgasbord.

This was a great one Colby, whether it works as advertised or not. I don't think it's unreasonable for the PHYCHIC BLADES THAT DON'T WEIGH ANYTHING to be considered "Light, " but maybe that's just me... 😂

Brewing is animal handling, yeasts are tiny mushroomy beasts that we have domesticated. We feed them sugars and we get alcohol out of the deal. With the right barding you can even make tiny nanotech chariots, no but really, irl people are working on that

Holy crap I'm literally about to build a Soulknife Thri-Kreen because my paladin got killed! Perfect timing for this video thanks 🙏🙏🙏

I think the tools thing is because tool proficiency is supposed to be varied. Look at Xanathar’s Guide they have a section that breaks down each of the tools with a variety of skills and examples for how they can be used. Using each of the tools is probably pretty universally Strength or Sleight of Hand for artisans tools, survival for navigation or possibly history for things like cartography tools. But each of those proficiencies can also be used for the knowledge gained by being skilled with it. Things like trying to track someone through a city making use of your cobbler’s tools proficiency to pick up on the nuances of boot tread to differentiate from other footprints on the same road.

I think a homebrew for the psychic blades - touching on the final thoughts about upscaling the psyching blades - is that if you get a magic dagger is that you can inscribe some features from the dagger into your mind and put it onto your psychic blades. You found a +1 flametongue dagger? When you next short or long rest you can attune to it and put those abilities on the psychic blade - at the caveat that now the flametongue dagger has psionic energy that's blocking from it being able to use the features it has (basically returning it to a normal dagger).

I'm just putting out something cause it was always something I thought about lol. And this build looks like a lot of fun without anyways 😩

I wonder if Colby wags his finger above his left shoulder every time he makes an allusion or reference in conversation, even when he is not recording videos for us.

1:18 you say 'welcome home' and it will always be home no matter where it is.

If you want to increase the damage of the Psychic Blades, multiclass with Monk instead of Fighter and both blades damage dice will increase, and the bonus action attack blade will jump to a d6 at first level monk.
Keep on keepin' on, man!

It might be my soulknife bias (my favorite Rogue and in my top 3 favorite subclasses) but I'd allow light property on psychic blades XD That had to have been a thing they simply skipped over on accident when they were adapting the subclass to 2024, in my opinion.

For the soulknife in my homebrew game, I gave her an item that basically acted like the +1-+3 items in Tasha's: the uncommon version is a +1 and the extra ability is another psi die refresh once per long rest. I think altering it to have the damage scale based on psi dice value is also good. It was a metaplot item, so it also increased her offhand to a d6 (though never increased the main hand).

Colby: "Do you guys mind if I go on a little rant here?"
Me: "Nope, that's why I am here! Rant away!"

Great video Colby. There is a Soul Knife character in the game I've been DMing for the past year. I have been letting her do a Nick attack and the psy-blade bonus action attack. Its not that much extra damage if she's already landed her sneak attack and rogues always have a lot to do with the bonus action. But it makes the character more fun and that's the name of the game.
