People who live in the UP used to go shopping in Green Bay, for back to school, where I lived. When I said, oh, you’re from Michigan. They’d always retort back I’m from the UP not Michigan. Not a one I met was proud.

My favorite part is that people from the UP call people from lower Michigan “Trolls” because they’re under the bridge

Not only did we (Wisconsin) get screwed over the UP, but our southern border was to be at the lower tip of Lake Michigan, which would have made the greater Chicago area also part of Wisconsin!

Us Wisconsinites love using Yoopers as the butt of jokes, but the UP is such a pretty landscape and it’s sad to not call it ours. Fortunately, as long as cannabis is legal in Michigan and not Wisco, I’m fine with the UP being part of Michigan.

I’ve lived in Wisconsin my entire life. I can tell you from a first hand experience that we always spend 15 minutes every day around bed time screaming into the sky about the loss of the upper peninsula. We will not allow this wrong to go un-righted.
