A suggestion, if you've not already sorted it. Even some newer cases still have the half punched out serial and parallel port mounting positions on the casing. If you have some that are for the 9 pin serial D connector, usually these SATA sockets and also single USB sockets can be mounted in them. Obviously you have to unscrew the backplate from the SATA socket first and punch out the half cut metal cover from the D connector on the casing. I'd check first, but usually the width of the screw spacing on these brackets will match the width of the holes on the PC cases.
Also, for a better fit if you have any CD-ROM drive type screws they are handy as they have a flange giving the head more surface area, so it will keep the socket mounted flatter.
