What BLINK does not do | Wish I Knew Before I Bought

Here is the one thing that the BLINK camera system does not do and I wish it did. I also wish I knew this before I bought the camera.

Here is an alternative if you are looking for a door bell camera.

Honestly, this was the most helpful video that I’ve come across while doing my homework on the Blink security cameras. I had narrowed my list down to the Blink cameras, but after finding out things like this and a few of their other issues, I’m right back to square one.

Just click the "early notification" to ON in each cameras settings when motion is detected you will get a notification on phone saying motion detected ( if all notifications on phone are set to ON for the blink app in the phones settings ) slide the notification bar open without going into the app and it will take you straight to live view and you can view and talk as it happens. I have the Outdoor system and it works fine.a good investment is micro usb cable extension for power to each camera, then you can max all settings and live stream all day and not worry about batteries, hope this helps.

Add a sync module 2. It will let you live view and send the live view through your echo show devices. You can literally say show me the front door.

Really good review. I like seeing what stuff doesn’t do. Makes it super clear that this is not a “monitor security system “. Get a doorbell camera if you want to interact with someone at your door. Another thing this system doesn’t do very well is night vision. Infrared light is weak. If your coverage area is lit up it works great.

It doesn’t have live preview in Home Screen! You need to click each camera and wait 5-7 seconds it loads. Terrible flaw, only useful for record and views later not monitor

Blink can have live view, with subscription plan. This is stored to cloud, also adding a sync 2 with stick will allow too.

Yes that’s true but there is also a setting to prevent that, you need to set them up to quit recording when motion stops and it will help this situation…. What I have also learned is, install an additional camera that you can always access while the other camera is recording, because when you access live it also starts recording for as long as your watching it…. So you will never have this problem if you buy additional cameras a place close to the already recording camera….. seems a bit much but if this is a problem for you, that’s what I would do, and I have already done…. I have a completely separate camera system close to my blink camera that I can see as well…. Very nice set up I have, all the cameras work as they should…. I think it really just comes down to your settings, 60 seconds a a good bit…. Also your battery life has got to suck LOL

Also, if you choose to purchase the cloud based storage offered with your Blink account, Blink videos can not be restored if deleted by accident. Please be sure to setup some type of back up usb drive on your Blink module or be sure to download priceless videos. 😔💔

JUst add a second camera that is in OFF mode, Then when you get alert from 1st camera, turn on second and use live view.

Can do early notification, then click it and you will be able to do a live view while someone is at the front door, the blink is a great camera overall considering no wired and its wifi too its just a matter of going into the settings and setting it up yourself and experimenting with it till you get it to your liking.

Thé Blink mini motion sensors can be bypassed. First, a set of 2- either 2 people or a dog and a person walking slowly about 4 feet apart one in front of the other passes the camera. The next person or truck won’t trigger the camera. I found this out on my first day using the mini.

You can't set a doorbell camera up high like you can with Blink. Got those wires to deal with as well.

I could always go into live mode when my camera is recording. On the other hand youre correct that you cant switch from one camera to another while doing live view. What i do is i click on one camera once im done viewing, i close the app and open it again and go to the other cameras live view and repeat tbe steps again to go on other cameras live view. Its a head ache but i live the blink cameras. I have mines set up for 10seconds and when you go To the notification it will continue recording.

A problem I have with mine. I wished I could continuously monitor it and watch the backyard consistently instead of just in little spots and short clips.
