For those who thinks berserk is officially done no it isn’t kentaro has a really close friend who is also a mangaka is finishing his story for him. Since berserk is 85% done they are actually in the final arc of berserk right now Guts actually gave up because he couldn’t land a hit on Griffith at all and led to Griffith Kidnapping casca. That’s where it’s at and They are on Hiatus yet again they are trying to get everything ready to finish berserk. He has been existing since the first god hand.
At the first eclipse he experience the same thing as guts, except he has no powerful helper.
He choose to become skull since no mortal could anyhing to god hand.
Anyway, Guts is also in risk of becoming a skull knight route since his body is becoming weaker and weaker because of berserker armor and he is also getting older.

I see Skull Knight as having a Very similar dynamic with Void as Guts and Griffith have. I believe Void, since he is the oldest of the Godhand, was the one to sacrifice Gainseric's kingdom, leading Gainseric to become Skull Knight.

Mysterious…so untold powers. Or unleashed. He challenged Void in pure physical combat, which Void rejected/avoided. Because he could manipulate the physical world. And anticipating the Void defection, parried his own strike. He knows he’s more capable than Void.

He's a really cool character, doubtless a shadow of his former self, consumed by vengeance and a precautionary tale for Guts. The way the godhand and zodd are towards him add a depth of backstory that doesn't need elaboration, you just know there's this history by the feeling of it
