Apologies for the vocal audio on this one, made in my hotel room for ya’ll!

Ableton’s Glue Compressor has a built-in Dry/Wet knob so the Effect Rack is unnecessary here. However, you can use an Effect Rack to add additional processing to the parallel signal, like EQ after compression, so it’s still a useful tip 👍🏻

parallel compression is an important technique to be aware of, but why do we have to call everything an INSANE MIND BLOWING HACK or whatever nowadays?

side note, the glue compressor already has a dry/wet knob, imo the real power in doing parallel processing this way is when you want to use, like, a nice third party character compressor you like in parallel.

What’s the difference between parallel compressing this way vs. using sends?

So this is what they mean when they "slam" the drums through a compressor right?

Do you prefer a chain instead of using the dry wet instead?

Glue has a Dry/Wet knob no? I used this technique with NY compression though, scooping the mids before the compressor.
