So for the last two weeks i've been keeping a diary of my experiences with drinking Soylent. After getting so bored with the food I was eating, and falling deeper and deeper into unhealthy eating habits, I was interested in trying soylent after seeing some of my pals from instagram give it a shot. After I ordered my first case, it wasn't a very easy transition, but I'm excited to share with you guys my first week drinking my food.

I'm genuinely confused as to how much you love Soylent because based on your journal entries, it seemed like it had a negative effect on you (tired, weak, weird feelings)?

On an active day, for a person of your size, you need at least 2000 calories. Being malnourished is extremely dangerous and bad for you. Don't play with your health. If you feel tired, eat more. If you want to loose weight for whatever reason, you really should consider starting to exercise instead of cutting food.

Okay I know there're a lot of criticising comments to this video discussing your caloric intake and I just wanted to talk out of experience here. I struggled with anorexia for several years and this video just rang some alarm bells. While around 1200kcal per day could be enough for a petite, inactive(!) person it likely will still deprive you of energy. Also the cycle of 'first day I'm so hungry but by day 3 my appetite is mostly gone' is exactly what I'd experience when I was starving myself. You feel very exhausted and fatigued. The following days seem somewhat better but just because you get used to this really bad state. Not being able to stomach more than tiny amounts of food means your stomach has already shrunken down considerably. For me everything you described sounds exactly like what I experienced. Your body simply goes into starvation mode because it thinks its survival is threatened. 1200kcal and the nutritional supplements may not seriously impact your physical health in the long run but it is in no way something anyone should keep up for a prolonged time. It seriously affects your living quality and mental health over time. Since you have experience with depression constantly being fatigued will only worsen that. I know it feels like you're doing something good and exercising willpower but really it just messes with your mind. If your goal is to loose weight too you will most likely achieve some of that in the first few weeks. Hey you just got yourself the perfect recipe for an eating disorder! Extreme unhealthy changes with some superficial success.
This diet doesn't induce long term healthy changes. The only way to achieve that is a real lifestyle change. I'm on a vegan diet and pack my lunch for uni. Usually a meal costs me about 1€! A healthy diet and regular exercise is literally the only way to achieve what you're aiming for without damaging yourself. There is no quick fix.

This sounds so good! It is always good to try a healthier lifestyle especially with the new year. I am allergic to soy though....is that just the name or does it actually contain soy products?

I'm a college student and my biggest struggle is when can I eat and constantly snaking. I constantly skip breakfast, by lunch I'm starving and struggling to make my way across campus to get lunch, and dinner is literally impossible with evening classes clubs and other activities, not to mention I work a job where I cannot leave from the time I clock in till the time I clock out. I pay $50-$75 on nonsense groceries anyway so I'm willing to give this a try! Thanks so much for this video and I love your channel btw(:

I did a soylent only diet for 10 days and my body felt great :) It wasn't sustainable because obviously I crave food, but it was a fun little experiment.

I've been debating on trying this for so long. I'm so busy and it seemed really practical, but I was never sure if it was worth it. This video sold me! I ordered it as soon as the video ended!

I think I'm going to try these now. My relationship with food has become pretty negative. Lots of binging. I have a hard time knowing what a normal portion size is. I hope these things help take away the frustration that comes along with meals and eating. Did you suffer from any bloating? Thank you for the video!
