Thank you - I love West Coast Seeds. I bought mostly West Coast Seeds this year for my garden and had excellent germination!

I'd like to clarify a couple of points made by the presenter. 1) Virtually all garlic plants have 10 alternating leaves each corresponding to a wrapper around the bulb. Usually a couple leaves whither away early because they are either below or at the surface of the ground. So it may seem that there are less than 10 leaves on any particular plant. 2) There is no flower at the end of the scape. It is a tightly formed cluster of new small garlic bulbs, not seeds. Basically, garlic clones itself in this fashion. No pollination of flowers is required. These little bulbs, called "bulbils" can be planted and after two or three years of harvesting and replanting you would have bulbs large enough to consume or use as seed garlic. Scapes may be harvested anytime after they appear, usually just after they begin to curl. --- Mark @ Pleasant View Farm, Ontario, Canada

Thanks for the info, you tell us when to harvest the garlic, but you haven't stated when to harvest the scapes. When should I harvest the scapes, as soon as I see them or after they've curled a couple of times?

Thanks so much for the video! I was wondering about your raised beds - do you line them with something to prevent water from seeping through the 2 boards? I seem to have a problem with water running out the bottom of the bed and between boards. thanks!

It's a shame when interested parties ask questions of the YOUTUBER and do not get a reply.

The information was great. Maybe it's just me but I find that background music to be too loud and distracting.

As a film composer and musician I should say that while your information was clear and well presented and helpful, the addition of music—any music—to instructional videos is not a good idea. P.S. When should the scapes be harvested?

You did not tell us how and when to cut the scapes -- other than to say it should be 'before they flower' ... so, not too helpful for me.

WE could miss the drumming in the background! Good info though
