I never owned an iMac. I just have a problem tying monitor obsolescence to cpu obsolescence. Mac Minis have come so far along, they work great with a stand alone monitor. I replaced a 2013 MacPro with a 2022 M2 pro mini. Works like a champ. Fine for home and travel videos.

I'm still using my 2020 Intel 5k 27-inch iMac, and with the most recent update, I will be sticking with it for at least another year. MacGPT and MACBing work great for me if and when I need AI.

I still have the original Macbook Pro with retina display from 2010. It ran MacOS great until about three years ago and then really started slowing down. So in came Linux, and it makes a great work station for my writing gigs. I replaced its battery back in 2015 and will probably have to do it again here soon. Maybe we don't need the latest and greatest... But it's still nice to have a new toy once in a while.
