It's hilarious how many people don't know what Kumpo actually is. It isn't a demon, guys. It's a spirit that wards off evil energy and protects the inhabitants of the village from harm. Unless you're fixing to do harm to the people of the village or anyone around, you'll be fine.

Edit: I can't believe my comment got so many likes and so much controversial attention. 😂

We don’t have a word for “magic” in African language, we have spirituality

If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.

The craziest part to me is the stone spinning so fast on its own like that.

I’m waiting for a nerd to explain to us why the spinning thing relates to some aerodynamics😂

There’s a guy in between the inner and outer layer of the effigy for those wondering. The long grass in the middle hides his feet. It’s more of a tradition than actual magic. The adults know it’s for fun while the for kids (that’s why there’s a lot of kids) it’s kind of like Santa. When and if there’s “real” magic taking place only grown men would be present with some grown women.

Colonialists came and called it witchcraft, they turned our own people against spirituality and told our ancestors to believe the man that walked on water and healed at the same time arresting our own healers!

Glad to see something different on the comment section.

To those who don't know the big circle is placed on the doll and then the jinn dances under this part, which turns in different sides

This video made me happy 💟 I swear those who have traditions to follow are spiritually at peace with earth. Africans, Indians, Māori, etc. We can heal ourselves spiritually and manifest our future. It’s amazing.

Native here 👋🏽
In Canada us Cree do this but we don't coexist with it... our medicine men ward off evil spirits using the shaking tent ceremony.

You have to banish what's in it... not let it dance around and tell you what to do lol.

I don't know why people are so in denial that spirits and things like that don't exist there is afterlife with me being native American we basically speak to afterlife our loved ones who pass on and maybe we haven't been able to say bye to them we can talk to them it's very powerful something a lot of people will never understand or get I'm grateful where I come from that I'm able to speak to my father that passed away

The ignorance in the comments is baffling. Respect people's cultures, you don't have to participate

Very interesting. Just to clarify to those who cannot move on from whether someone's inside or not. Technically outsiders and non-practicants would believe so. But praticants of this spirituality would answer no because when a person/dancer enters thia structure he is not himself and cannot representing himself anymore. The dancer becomes the representation of the spiritual entity, so it is valid to say the worshippers consider there's no one inside and the entity is whar moves the structure. Hope that answers. To sum it up, if you are thinking to much whether there is a person inside, you are misunderstanding the meaning of the experience.
