Please do more of these videos. Future BLA's and MLA's (like myself) need this stuff lol. The internet is lacking on landscape architecture content and I'm pretty sure everyone thats interested in it has watched that "Laurie olin on skills of a landscape architect" video about 1000x... we are losing our minds. Keep it up man. Great video!

I am researching whether I want to go into this field. Thank you for this information. It was hard to find real information about the life of landscape architects.

Thank you for your honest opinion, I am an architect and even you saying that the answers are not that specific, I understand what you are saying. Personally I believe that design is undervalued and that leads to frustration in whatever aspect, long hours, financial recognition, and so on. I am considering applying for a Master degree in LA bc I love nature and plants, and I do thank you again for your honesty and not romanticized facts. I feel I must have dodged a bullet there. As you sayed this is not for everyone.

These videos are great! It’s refreshing to hear clear and raw insight directly from someone in the field. I also agree with previous comments that there is not enough information out there.

Currently a 1st year student in landscape architecture at Melbourne University.

I am mentally stressed and sad all the time, and having to pull all-nighters and couldn’t eat properly for as well. Thank you so much for the video, it helped me a lot

I found your video searching for a great, rewarding career for my 16 years old. She is enrolled in an engineering program in her high school and completely clueless what she wants to do. First I thought Architecture but after digging deep I passed. Then I came back to landscape architecture which I passed on without even digging into it, and I actually can see her do this. Funny you mention investing, because I am a very high level investor and will manage her finances while she can do her job. Eventually passing all my knowledge onto her so she can do it for herself. Please do more videos, it was really informative, on point. Thank you.

I love this video. When you mentioned China it made we want to comment that it can get pretty complicated dealing with imports. I'm a landscape architect for a developer and we actually have created standards from gates and fencing, to furnishings and lighting, which are all manufactured and imported. My team may spend 20% of their time each week dealing with these items. I'm probably just venting at this point lol, but great video

I am a licensed landscape architect and I have been working for 28 years now. This profession gets very little respect and the pay is pretty bad. I could never tell someone to get into this profession due to the experience I have had. I do enjoy designing sites, but I have always struggled financially since I graduated back in 1997. I have worked in 5 different firms now and the other professions have little respect for the LAs.

I am a licensed landscape architect since 2007, but back then I was a homeschooling mom of three kids, working from home doing mostly residential because of the economic crash of ‘08. I just resigned from my government job of three years (DOT), to pursue design again. Working on learning LAND FX, and hoping to work dual states of CO and CA. Would love more vids on freelancing, and such.

Great video!. I'm a high school student. and I intend to continue my studies in the landscape architect major. at first I had doubts about this major, because it's still new in my country and less desirable. but thank god! this video has made up my mind. Thanks Thomas.

I feel like I just hit the jackpot with this channel. I'm applying to MLA programs in the US and UK right now and I like to learn/do investing on the side. Ka-ching! Please make more videos, perhaps regarding school and how to fund it (and how much is ok to get in debt for an MLA in your opinion). Thanks!

I'm a second year Landscape Architecture student here in the Philippines and I find this video very interesting, since there's only few people documenting or making video about this field. Looking forward for more, keep it up Thomas!
