I'm currently in Calc 2 and polynomial division just came out of nowhere... I never learned this before so thanks for the video! I actively seek out your videos because I find them to be the best no-nonsense, no fluff math videos on YouTube. Thank you!!

if the dividend had degree 4, meaning the highest degree term is something like x^4 then we need to have a term for each degree down to the constant. We would need an x^4, x^3, x^2, x, and a constant. If any of these terms are missing we would insert "zero" terms. For example, if there was not x^2 term, we would use 0x^2. I hope that helps.

Final example: "..and no, the 4 and the 8 do not simplify" lmao that was funny, cause I was thinking it. Took me a few tries, but I get this now. Whew! Thanks so much for your efforts.

@mathispower4u if we're trying to figure out how to turn y into y^3, why are we putting the y^2 over the oy^2? instead of over the y^3
