hey guys, this is my 2nd day on the track riding 2020 Yamaha YZ125X and I have to tell you that I just love this 2 stroke dirt bike on MX track. I admit that I had some preconception about it, but it is all changing now. Check out the video and let me know your thoughts. Cheers!!

When you go on the outside line you can hold your momentum and you won’t have to change gears but the inside line is harder but when done right is more rewarding

125 engages you and keeps you having to stay ahead and on top of your game.
So rewarding.... would love to have another one day. Looks like you were having a blast !

The general consensus seems to be that smaller = more fun

40 years ago the 125cc 2 stroke was the bomb! Good to see the return of the 2 strokes. Also, smaller and lighter is better. My Yamaha Tenere 700 will be in my garage later today(smaller for an ADV bike)

I love how you're just having battles with random people at the track without even communicating with each other! It's beautiful to me lol and this makes me want to learn how to ride tracks and do jumps lol

The fact you had 125 and you were that close to the 450s is a testament to your skill

It was great seeing how capable the X-bike Yamahas are on the track. You are not a small, light guy, and you showed that it was totally capable. I thought that if the rider was more than 150 lbs, that it would maybe end up being like a CRF230 or WR on the track. I'm really a trail rider, who likes the option of riding on the track, too, and it looks like the X-Yamaha's are totally capable. And they are obviously great on the trails, since they are designed for it. By the way, your track riding skills are GREAT in my opinion, and have been for quite some time. Impressive to me.

Hell Rado, you were sending that 125! You put a big smile on the face of this soon to be 67 year old. Last two bikes I’ve bought for my birthday have been for my 65th, a 2010 VFR 1200F DCT @ 170bhp-love that V4, for my 66th a 2017 VFR1200X DCT, a tuned down version of the F motor, and for my 67th, I’m getting a 2024 YZ125X for off-road. The VFR-X is just too damn heavy at 650pounds. I rode a Honda CR125M Elsinore back in 1974 when they first came out and Honda’s first 2 stroke motocross bike. Loved that bike, so much fun to ride. Hope to be having that same experience once again. Ride safe…

I spent an entire year racing cross country on my 2002 Suzuki RM125. My impression of that DC range is that they're capable of doing whatever you want with a little persuasion. They may not be the best for everything, but they have just enough power to be blazing fast without the risk of pulling the front wheel on every turn and dumping you. It's easy to be lazy on them. As long as you carry enough speed into a turn, you can lock up the back wheel and never pull in the clutch. The bike just busts right off as soon as you let off the brake and you're rocketing off. I love my 125, and recommend them for anybody just wanting a feel good bike, or even a beginner who wants to get started riding.

Halfway through the turn keep throttle wide open and feather clutch for power to the wheel

Hey Rado. The enthusiasm you got going on with your 125 is the same I have everyday I get on my 150 Husky Enduro. I’m 190lbs now and it helped me loose 45lbs. I have lots of videos of the enduro version on my channel. I’ve had it for 2 years now and it’s still the most fun bike I’ve been on. These bikes are definitely underrated, don’t know why.

Epic two stroke sound!! Also, great battles with the 250s and 450 4 strokes!

Hey dirt n iron ! I have a question for you . I’m thinking of either getting a YZ125x or a crf250f . I like the weight of the YZ125x but I also enjoy the reliability of the Honda. I’m mostly riding pretty easy trails with the occasional light enduro stuff. What do you recommend.

KTM has a 125 xc model coming out for 2021. According to the website it has all the standard equipment of an offroad/xc bike including an Electric starter, a larger tank and the initial pictures indicate it still retains the kickstarter and is carbureted . A future review would be great, in terms of comparison to the yz125x.
