Sony PlayStation 2 :: RGB210 / MY LIFE IN GAMING

Показать описание
Get the Best Picture from your PlayStation 2! The PS2 was designed very specifically for the CRTs of its day. How does it look on CRTs vs. HDTVs, and what are some of the challenges with various cables and upscalers? And you might be surprised by how PS3 backwards compatibility works!

All this, plus HD port comparisons and more!

NOTE: The nature of interlaced video makes it critical that you watch this episode at 60 frames per second, or else many shots just will not look right at all. Ideally, also view on the fastest monitor or TV that you have available. While YouTube's compression doesn't fully convey the effect, the OSSC's bob deinterlacing is completely butchered on monitors with a slow pixel response time.

Just now discovered this gem of a video. I cannot overstate how well this was made. Informative, entertaining, and educational. Best part is, I know y'all truly had a blast making this video. Well done MLIG.

The person who recorded footage off PS2s in this video has a great taste in games!

The PS2 is, by far, my favorite console of ALL time. Its library is so huge, and I still discover more hidden gems from it all the time. Thanks for the great work, guys.

To this day I think the PS2 was the most hyped gaming system of all-time. I worked in electronics at Wal-mart and we had at least 20 calls a day asking if we had any PS2s in stock after it was launched. That answer was usually no.

God I miss the days when framerate was a priority for developers. I don't care about 4k or even games running in 9k or 720p, but bring 60fps + back!

I'm changing my name to Bob Deinterlacing.

It's a crime that this channel only has 77k subscribers. They deserve much more for the quality of the content.

This video hits all the right buttons for me - nerdy tech stuff, retro gaming, early 2000's nostalgia. I've watched this video a couple of dozen times, it's great comfort viewing. Awesome job guys!

I've been playing the PS2 for 17 years now, and I'm still finding games that I've never even heard of for it.

After spending years looking for the "Perfect PS2 Look" via all kinds of scalers I grabbed a 32" Trinitron that was on its way to the dumpster and PS2 games have never looked better. I think I'm finally satisifed with it.

For the PS3, the yellow light of death has finally been accurately diagnosed. It is a set of capacitors, the NEC TOKIN ones that filter power to the PS3. You can read more on it but the yellow light of death can be fixed, and once it's fixed, it is permanently fixed.

It's interesting seeing just how different the design philosophies of the Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube, and Xbox truly were.

- The Dreamcast was designed to bring the NAOMI arcade experience to the living room and kickstart a new era in gaming.
- The PS2 was designed to follow up the success and hype of the PS1, turn game consoles into more than just game consoles, and take full advantage of everything CRTs had to offer.
- The GameCube was designed to bring gaming into the digital audio/video age (albeit much too early for its own good) and break Nintendo out of the mold of them being a behind-the-times kiddy company (an effort that crashed and burned as soon as it got off the ground).
- The Xbox was designed to bridge the gap between console gaming and PC gaming and pick up the slack when Sega's huge debts inevitably took them out of the race.

Really, the vast diversity of visions present in sixth generation consoles, combined with the sixth generation's general emphasis on experimentation (meaning that any genre could sell pretty damn well, with no conforming to a general trend), made 1998-2007 a sort of creative high point for the gaming industry as a whole, even if it was during a time when gaming had become incredibly niche. It's a shame that we probably won't see such a widespread amount of creative diversity in the industry again for a long while, if at all.
