What is Slow Living? Ancestral Homekeeping + Slow, Simple Living EXPLAINED

I've seen so many questions and misconceptions about what slow living or simple living actually are, and so I thought I'd make a little video discussing these terms and what they mean to me. Thank you for joining me in my kitchen and my garden (both of which are under construction at the moment!) for a discussion on things very close to my heart.

And thank you to all of you who have subscribed this past year! Your comments and support are rays of sunshine that I truly treasure. I am striving to be able to post more videos on a more dependable schedule for you-- though between homeschooling and diy renovation, free time is a bit hard to come by! Perhaps this video will give you some insight on to why I am not the most prolific content creator out here. I appreciate you joining me in this journey of slow living. =)

With love,
Kristina Franziska

Kindness Disclaimer:
We only have two rules in my house: Be Safe and Be Kind. I think those are appropriate here too.

Your thoughts, whether you agree with me or not, are always welcomed in the comments. Please note this is a safe, inclusive space, and rude, hurtful, or mean-spirited comments are swiftly deleted. There haven't been many of those, but enough that I feel the need to post this for all videos going forward.

I just subscribed to your very wholesome and informative channel! But I’m so sorry to see that this last video I watched was the last video!😢 Im sure the business of life, especially in the summertime, has given us much to do! Myself included. I just wanted you know that your channel is very uplifting and your voice says it all about yourself! I loved hearing you describe life in itself. Had to laugh in one video about you still driving a minivan as my husband and I still drive one after so many years. We don’t carry children anymore, just pets.🤣So thank you for all of the
videos you shared! They were truly enjoyed!

i think slow living it may be different for everyone. I dont fully agree with the description it was offered here, simply because we are all different. For instance, almost every SL video on youtube has something to do with cooking and baking, as if SL is mostly this. I love cooking, i love baking, enjoy eating, but omg, SL is not this. As a slow living person myself, i dont like the terms mindfulness and presence which feel forceful and rigid to me, instead i prefer the term SAVORING, savoring life moment by moment, making the best of it through diving deep into my senses. To me, beauty is one of the key ingredients for a well savored life, and this can happen through small beauty-full things like flowers, nature, cleanliness, a good book, decorating, creating a beauty-full meal display. But i also love luxury and i consider it very important for my SL fulfillment. Luxury relaxes me, its like the epitome of beauty and savoring. In France, living in an aristocratic chateau in countryside is called slow living. In Tuscany - Italy, is the same, and these countries are the ones who invented the term of SL. Thats why they take a few hours for lunch break every day, they dont rush and they make the most of everything they have. Portugal and Spain are also famous for their slow life where being lazy in the middle of the day is called siesta after a good meal. Simple joys in life savored to the max. For me, i would not be interested in ancestral homekeeping/homesteading and connecting it to SL, although i love someone else doing it for me. It would be too exhausting and not pleasurable at all. I love ecological/organic living though and it is a big part of my lifestyle. To me, SL is more about slowing down to savor so much, that at a sensory level my whole body and heart feel fully nourished, and it can happen through any means that is appealing to me. It has nothing to do with things mentioned in the video, unless i really enjoy doing them. It is a way of making love with life, and doing it so slow that everything amplifies through sensing the richness of it.

You lost me at using the term "social justice".
