Knowing how to keep warm isn't only essential for your comfort, it could very well save your life. In my experience the biggest enemy of warmth is moisture, so much of this guide is geared toward keeping dry. A complete list of items I mention in this video are listed below:

I keep warm by living in California. I find this way to be the most efficient and comfortable way. Sometimes it gets down to like 45 degrees at night during the winter and during those times I simply stay inside with the knowledge that it'll be like 60 in a few hours.

I love a wool scarf. Tuck the ends under your coat and it bottles the heat in like nothing else.

Best winter hat imo is a military surplus ushanka, and when combined with the issued face mask it’s amazing.

I live in “Basically Canada” Minnesota had a car break down during a three day 50-60 below actual temp and I bought a -40 rated parka wore that, long wool underwear, jeans, and a hoodie. I was shocked at how comfortable the three mile walk to work was.

A great ending to a "cool" video. I recommend Under Armor base layers. Fantastic! And nothing beats a down jacket with a wool shell. But when it is, "you will die" cold, a sheep skin or shearling is my go to piece.

i have this winter tried using bamboo base layers long inner pants as the pure Marino wool ones isn't very long lasting and very expensive with work trousers and so far its a perfect for heat and sweat management

Wool is pretty amazing, especially the lighter weight blends, and smartwool is just nuts. Wool is absorbent but maintains its insulating properties when wet. Also good materials are bamboo rayon and hemp.

Chemical hand warmers and adhesive toe warmers are a great help when it's really cold. I hate cold hands and feet. My K2 ski boots have built-in rechargeable heaters, and that is like a gift from heaven.

Great list and helpful for cold game days as well, especially when you’re sitting on metal bleachers

Greatest struggle: Finding a baselayer that'll last more than a year and won't smell like death after a day of wear.
elsewhere
Synthetics last forever, but I'd rather not have to consider burning a shirt due to the smell after wearing it for a day.

From my personal experience, if you're being very active having highly breathable clothing is king. With being relatively static, being able to break the wind is what's most important.
This year, I've been getting into shearling but never got cold enough to test how good it actually is.

Very informative video Carl. It’s pretty cold here in Chicago these days, so the timing of your video is ‘spot on’. I can use all the tips and suggestions I can get on how to stay warm. As a Christmas gift my daughter gave me a Canadian Goose knit cap, so at least my head is warm. The local news had a segment on people getting robbed of their Canadian Goose jackets. One 58 year old guy, was beaten silly, as some hooligans ripped the Canadian Goose jacket right off his back. Too sad. Oh well, thanks for suffering through the cold to make this informative video!

Found a USN Gore-Tex Foul Weather Jacket at a local thrift store for $12. Propper recently had a closeout on the very warm fleece liner for $40. Nice system.
