Original Description:
Kingdom Hearts 3 is now less than 100 days away, it's time we did our extra curricular work and made sure we are all caught up on the story of KH Chi and Union Cross.
Today I will be going over the entire story that has been presented to us so far, in chronological order.

This video was created before KH3, and as such does not contain any KH3 spoilers! If you want to find out everything that the developers wanted us to know before playing Kingdom Hearts Three you are in the right place!

Please enjoy, thankyou for the tremendous amount of support over the years!

Its still unsettling that the entire Keyblade War was fought by _children._ Children who had previously been allies, friends and quite possibly family members with each other. Divided up by unions or by whatever Foreteller they followed, and they slew each other in a single battle that ended with barely anyone left alive, including the character we make and play as.

OK Damian, I called you a mad man when you decided to make a video 20 minutes before going to a wedding but making a 53 minute Union X summary video elevates you to an even higher level. You summarised the story very nicely and it was nice of you to consistantly show relevant footage to what you are currently talking about. I do have 1 small nitpick though, at the beginning of the video you blurred out the background too much which kinda started hurting my eyes. I recommend applying a very minimal blur next time. Other than that you have nailed it! Good job!

This video is so necessary. While people like Everglow have done fantastic jobs archiving and editing these scenes into chronological order, it must be said that trying to watch them as is without VA for the KHX/KHUX scenes is excruciating. It takes too long and requires you to keep your eyes glued to the screen in order to read every little speech bubble. A detailed summation like this is what we really need.

oh I get it so at the end of kh3 when the story reaches a new level of confusion its going to suddenly cut to sora waking up in bed and he'll say "well that was a weird dream." And then his mom will call him down to dinner. Sora vows to never leave home as he eats his dinner before going to bed. The next morning he destroys the raft and convinces Riku and Kairi that there's no place like home and what they wanted was right in front of them the whole time.

THIS story is what KH4 is gonna be based off tragic, such a convoluted story which barely got any notice since it was on such strange platforms

I love how bland Chirithys’ (Chirithies?) emotions are.

As someone who has been a fan since KH1 on PS2 and hasn't kept up too much with this specific aspect, all I can say is thanks for making this and do I have a lot of catching up to do.

Honestly, this is the KH story that should have been made in to a real game...

You know why the war started? It's all summarized in one line: May your heart be your guiding key.

If everyone just does as their hearts tell them, there is no real right or wrong, just whatever is right in their own eyes. Thus, conflict and war.

As explained by Riku and Mickey in Kh3. Xehanort's heartless (Ansem) was able to go to the past to tell his younger self of the future. Maleficent (in contrast) could control heartless in the first game making her by definition, a powerful heartless. Ergo, it's not that crazy to think she could used timetravel like Ansem did when she was first defeated in Kh1.

Wow. This is art. It makes me love and appreciate Union Cross and Kingdom Hearts as a whole all the more. There were some things that completely went over my head during my first play through -- like the dark Chirithy first interacting with us. I have to come back to this video, as I've not played through to Strelitzia yet. But man, it is so cool how you incorporated Union Cross with the Back Cover cinematic. When I was watching Back Cover initially, I was wondering where our story in Union Cross came into play, and you answered that for me. Amazing job, just amazing!

The KH story onward from 3 being based off all *this* is going to be a billion times more headache-inducing than Organization 13 or Xehanort ever were, I predict.

this story is really interesting, too bad 90% of the missions in khx are boring and repetitive and doing the extra missions and collecting medals is more fun :(

DAMO YOU DID IT OMG.
Very good job. Only issue I had on my end was video wise, at around 47:44 the video abruptly cuts and jumps to the 0 episode talk while you're mid sentence talking about Lauriam. But idk if maybe that was an issue on my end

So far story wise I'm just confused as to how traveling back in time can accidentally land you in a data world within a sleeping realm/plane?? Are data worlds sleeping by default?
Lol idk (tbh I haven't played coded just read a summary on it orz nomura not kidding around by making it relevant af)
But yknow this makes me wonder about kh2 and the data twilight town Roxas was in. If Ansem the wise created that world with a method similar to how our data worlds in khux were made then.... Stuff does make more sense within it's own lore. For example what weirded out Olette and the others from the real twilight town was how Sora had her exact same pouch even though it's one of a kind. In a weird way kh2 Roxas was sorta like the avatar from khux. When he slept he kept having dreams of stuff that already happened the real world and he was experiencing a simulation of something that already happened/was happening
(Cuz the tournament happened on their end too except Seifer is the one who won it instead of Roxas in the data version).
This makes the reawakening (? Is what what we're calling it) of Roxas via the data twilight town in kh3 much more intriguing to me.
And of course. Ven. If the condition to time travel is having your body and heart severed in a certain way (involving a keyblade I mean) isn't that was Master Xehanort sorta did to Ven. I wonder, could he have accidentally stumbled upon that secret especially being that his own Master was Xehanort. What else could have Xehanort told/taught him? This just fun speculation though and anyway the way Xehanort severed ven (splitting his light and darkness to form the. X-blade) is a whole nother can of worms. For example, will the x-blade be discussed in khux? Being an inheritor of the Master's will, and probably some other secrets passed on orally instead of in a book, I feel like perhaps that x-blade business might be in the book? Cuz otherwise where'd he get that very specific method of opening the real kingdom hearts.

As for the traitor business, I wanna know whatchu think damo :o
I know for me, watching back cover the MoM was a really suspicious guy. And that was definitely intentional. He seemed to be giving the Foretellers roles that took advantage of their weaknesses and paranoia. The case of Aced especially feels like he's playing him like a fiddle.
So I feel like what Luxu told Ava that would make her feel hopeless was something like the Master himself is the traitor. How could the person she respected so much and followed to the T do something so horrible after all. And the line from aced in the film really stuck with me, when he called gula a traitor for just knowing there was a traitor and not saying anything. But by that logic, even before gula knew--the master knew. So he'd be the first traitor.
Another possibility is that everyone is the traitor. That could also be a kind of twist revelation that would make her despair. Not just them 5 but Luxu and the Master. Everyone took a part in the end with actions that destroyed them. That makes sense too.

I think just Luxu is too easy. The sigil is x. And the MoM gave them all new names right. The only name with the sigil is in Luxu's name.
But again, watching back cover I was surprised to hear that Luxu sounds... Normal. In the khux cutscene with Ava he's oddly stoic verses in the case of Luxu where he definitely didn't seem stoic at all when talking. He seemed unsure of himself. So if he's the traitor it's not really by doing anything then if his instruction was to just watch and make sure to get an apprentice to pass stuff on. But of course he would start the line in the legacy that lead up to Xehanort and in turn the reason for the light doomed to expire.

Anyway damo, I'm looking forward to the rest of your videos on explaining the story!! I can't wait for the next jpkhux updates leading into kh3 o.o
