Samsung Ultra HD Blu ray player - Hands On

Samsung became the first company to officially announce a 4K UHD Blu-ray player at its IFA press conference in Berlin. Simply called the Ultra HD Blu-ray Player, at least for the time being, the player offers four times the resolution and 64 times the color expression of the standard HD Blu-ray format. The player supports HDR content and can play UHD Blu-ray at up to 60 frames per second.

Fuck streaming services with their scaled down resolution and sound HD, physical Blu-ray with True Full HD and high res sound is where it's at

Can't wait. Sad the PS4 won't be able to read UHD BluRays, so we'll need to buy a dedicated player which I'm assuming will cost around 250 - 350. Btw it will be great to finally have great 4K, HDR 10-bit Rec.2020 color gamut content encoded with HEVC running at 100Mbps for the awesomeness of visual quality. Finally I'm gonna be able to feed my 4K 55" TV with some actual 4K source! :)

it can play up to 60fps... would be amazing watching movies in 60fps... its the future now and i would love this somuch .. but id rather buy a vizio brand instead tho .. ill buy the player before a 4k tv lol

Dvd saved the video store back in 1997. Ultra HD Blu Ray will come out just in time to see the death of the Video store. I should I know I have been in the rental business since the summer of 1997 and we are closing our rental store this year. DVD still out rents Blu Ray 2:1. The vast majority of people don't care about 1080 let alone 4K. They want ease of use and accessibility. DVD players don't need to be upgraded like blu ray players and not everyone has high end tvs or audio equipment. Streaming/ON Demand are killing the physical disc market you will be lucky to see 4K discs make it to your local Wal Mart/Costco. These companies are scaling back big time on floor space dedicated to physical media. There is a whole generation out there that is perfectly happy watching a movie on their cell phones do you really think those kids care about picture quality?

dvd was l;ike 10 sec load times, hd in my experience has been closer to 20-40 sec, that alone to me nearly kills physical discs but then to play your movie usually requires you to watch some anti piracy advert or and other adverts all which take away from the physical experience.  Its a shame cause all these issues to me just add negativity to what I would like.
