The File has an Unsupported Compression Type in Premiere Pro CC (Solved)

when i was importing the file which i change to .avi i got a different error message "We were unable to open the file on disk" how do you solve this one?

Didn't work for me but it gave me an idea. I was outputting MKV's from OBS as that was the default. I changed to MP4 and it imported first time into Premiere.

The best way to repair the file is use FFmpeg and run the command "ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:v libx264 -crf 18 -preset slow -c:a copy output.mp4" replacing input.mp4 with your video and replacing output.mp4 with whatever you want to name the video. It will "re-encode" the video and give you a fresh healthy video. This is better than trimming 1 second off in Window's movies & TV app because it preserves the encoding settings of the original file.

None of those worked for me, but the slow way is to upload to Youtube, wait for it to process the full file, then download. Not perfect, but it works.
