How to change a Brother inkjet printer cartridge

This short video will show you how to change the Ink cartridges on a Brother Ink-Jet Printer.The ink cartridges are usually stored on the right hand side of the printer towards the front of the printer.

To the side of the printer you will see a little lip which you pull to open the compartment where the Ink Cartridges are stored.

Then click the little grey lever on top of each cartridge to release if from its housing. Then slide in the refilled or new cartridges, make sure to add each cartridge colour into the correct colour slot.

Push the cartridge in until the level clicks up.

Close the cartridge compartment and you then may have to click a confirmation on the small information console screen to confirm printer setup.

Thanks for the video. I refilled my own ink on an HP printer a decade ago but haven't tried with the Brother J805DW. What company do you buy your refill ink from and what site do you purchase at? Does it print as well as Brother ink? How long have you been using it?

There is a plastic film glued to the ink hole ..do l remove that?

Why doesn’t my new ink have the plastic cover anymore? Are they trying to save more money? 😕Without the cover I got ink on my hands…

I have just added two colour cartridges - magenta and a yellow. The laptop is telling me that I have neither. Why is that? Also, I only want to print in Black and While. I have clicked 'Grayscal' and it is still telling mee that I don't have those colour inks. What is wrong??

My new cartridges do not have that orange lever. I am instructed to push down the ink release button on the cartridge. Where is it? Apparently I did it on the black cartridge without knowing it. I can't release the ink in the color cartridges.

hi there I need a favour with the ink. Brother printer won't replace my printer unless I send them a picture of brother ink laying flat with ink in it. But I use compatible ink not legit brother so I cant send the pic and therefore they won't fix my printer. Any chance you could send me a pic PLEASE
