Warning - Long Post

I wanted to share my experience here on the first video of this series as today was the first time I put these ideas into practice over 9 holes. I adjusted par and the new par was 50. I took my 6 iron, PW, SW, & Putter leaving everything else at home. A little history, I played golf for the first time last year and played maybe 6 rounds of 18 holes in 2021. It was awful, I took a couple lessons which helped but I always reached for driver off the tee and I never hit a fairway or even close. I did not know what stress free, fun golf was!

Today, with these ideas in play I shot a 49 on 9 holes (my first time under 50, technically my first time under 56 lol) and I had so much fun. I was in the fairway more times than not, only had to get out of one bunker and even made a GIR on one hole. I also ended the day with the same ball that I started with, which is unheard of for me. I am still so new to the game, but was so close to calling it quits after last year was just so rough. Wanted to share this hear so others hitting over 100 can see that it can work, adjust your mindset, practice, have fun and good things can come your way.

Thanks Playa

For me personally, this is one of the greatest concepts in golf that anyone has ever explained. For new golfers, or for those who haven't played in a really long time, this is a simple, but specific way to lower expectations, simplify club choice, yet encouraging the early stages of thinking your way through a round. Excellent video and 6 part series.

Might be my favorite golf video yet. I just printed my local scorecard and changed it - when I think of the holes now with the new par, there's definitely a feeling of "oh I can do that EASY." Imagining the mental shift about being pumped for just breaking our new par. Imagine grabbing a 5 on a new par 7. Huge

I'm buzzing when I get a par! Doesn't happen more than once or twice a round at the moment!

I watched these beginner videos on repeat for a couple of weeks as I had a very busy period of work.

Couldn’t play golf with the exception of a couple of hours to practice my putting and toe down chipping.

Long story short; played my first
full round (only 4 month into learning at 39yo) from the forward tees and shot a 94.

Played a mix of hybrid and irons off the tee and thought about all shouts back from the green.

If I got rid of my 3 putts it would have been an 88!

Looking forward to breaking 90 next and working on getting down to the scratch sacred land 🏌️

Hit a 97 today, and that was even after my favorite club the pitching wedge broke on the range. This method of thinking actually works

This is a good system and very similar to just playing Stableford and aiming for 2pts per hole. I would always recommend this way of scoring for new players as you really don't have to worry about the few disaster holes - just pick up and move on.

Thank you! Used this approach for my last 2 rounds and playing much better!

First out was 103 and very close, but made me much more confident and making better decisions!

Broke it today with a 10 on the card and made actual pars on 3 the top 5 hardest holes at my club and in GIR!

Also won the Stableford with 40 points..

I didn't let the 10 bother me on the 5th hole, I kept to the plan and broke it easily..

Now I've got 90 in my sight 👍

Wow, this is eye opening and makes me realize that I should NEVER compare myself to the pros, but rather work my game step by step. Many thanks

I started golfing in July 2020 and then started watching your videos late last season (I’m in a colder area where golf is April-October). At the end of 2021, my lowest round ever was 116. I improved that several times since the 2022 season started.

Today, on my 9th round of the year, it finally happened: 98!!! And that included my first real birdie ever (a one-putt Playa eagle on a short par 4).

Leaving my ego at home, playing away from trouble, physically re-writing the pars on each hole on the scorecard, using less clubs (I use 8, not just 4, including driver as I’m decent with it), and most importantly, NOT COUNTING MY STROKES UNTIL THE END, are what got me there.

Thank you so much!

Thank you for resetting my brain, I just hit consistent 150 yards, 100 yards and 50 yards, stress free, fairway width and just swung through the ball. I’ll be heading out with 5 clubs with confidence. I looked around and just saw guys nailing drivers and irons but not aiming which my reset brain found very odd. Thank you so much you offer absolute clarity bro!!!

I watched this series the other day and put it into practice today. I came up short and shot 101 but I noticed a big difference and I’m confident that I’ll smash 100 in the next few rounds. Keep up the good work!

I like the change of mindset. Will try tomorrow. I'm right at 102-105. Usually have 2 holes i blow up..but beating the new par will help confidence. Which will probably help. Use to shoot high 80's to mid 90 but that was 20 years ago. Just started playing again in 21. We'll see how it goes

Broke 100 (96) yesterday for the first time in several years. On average I only play a handful of times per year but this summer I've had more opportunity to play. Been watching a ton of your videos and the way of the playa has worked great for me. THINKING being the main area of improvement for me. It's helped me rationalize my thoughts before every shot and the results have been much better.

Thanks playa
