Ham meringue sandwich, interesting. I wonder if tart cherry jam or a pepper jelly would work as a plus up and play off the pie vibe this gives me?

when I first started watching these videos I didn't realise you actually posted everyday when you signed off with "see you tomorrow"—not until I subscribed and saw your videos everyday—what a treat! See you tomorrow!

"But hey, at least I got lunch." Better outcome than with the yeast sandwich!

I made pork Schnitzel tonight for the first time, for me and my mom. I see a sandwich coming around midnight!✌️

Barry, you've made me a better pepper-er. I had some leftover air-fried chicken today and added it to seeded bread slathered with Duke's. Then sliced tomatoes with Himalayan sea salt and lots of freshly ground black pepper, and topped with arugula. It was really good!

This is very much the sort of 'quick dinner' I'd have expected to see in movies like "The Thin Man". (a series I so dearly love).

I lol'd at the "just fold it in"

Reminds me of this Bulgarian cheese toast recipe I discovered recently. It's basically a mixture of eggs, goat cheese, and any other cheese put on buttered bread and cooked under the broiler for ten minutes. Results in a similarly delicious browned, puffy egg mix thingy.

Beating eggs to that consistency by hand would be a real chore!

This is from a French technique, nutmeg was a great idea, I would use toasted dark rye and lay down a couple pickled before the ham. You, Sir, have me hooked on that pickly pop!

In addition to a whisk, a rotary egg beater would be the tool that a lot of cooks would have used to whip egg whites before hand mixers became available. I still have and use my grandmother’s (from 1935).

that top part looks like "cloud bread" that was so popular about 10 yrs ago.

Dude likes his black pepper! We make these for snacks, but mixed grated cheese into the egg and plus up with a little pickle

Interesting! As you might know my interest lies in vintage small engines and such and I'm always surprised by how much earlier different things came into use than I ever expected...but no electric hand mixer until '61? (I think there may have been an earlier hand mixer attachment prior for an electric drill, or perhaps I saw an ad for a drill attachment for your wife's electric hand mixer, I can't remember which. Either way, it seems like a recipe for marital tension haha!)

I keep waiting for a sandwich that calls for pumpernickel or a croissant. It would be a nice curve ball to bog standard white bread.

1936 kitchen utensil of choice would have been the Dover Beater, which does work surprisingly well on egg whites.

Electric hand mixers not really being an “in nearly every house” thing until the 60’s explains why I practically trip over the hand powered beaters when I go to estate sales
Pretty cool! And totally gonna make that sandwich sometime
