Nice kit. I'll have to look up the RS-918.

I broke my dedicated QRP radio, a FT-817ND. Since then I've been using my FT-897D and FT-857D radios for portable and QRP.
My focus for the past couple of years is 80m NVIS for regional ecom. My current setup packs on my KLR650. I did add the tool tube mentioned to provide more space in top box and I should be camping in a nearby 465 acre wildlife management area in 1 of 5 unimproved camp sites for dry run of my setup. Then I might travel a bit.
The 80m-10m EFHW has become my goto antenna for portable ops. I also am using a Chameleon Emcomm III Portable. It does well 20m and up, but only so-so on 40m and 80m, but I am still experimenting with counterpoise wires and choking.
I will probably cut a 31ft wire and use a water bottle to make a base loading coil and attach it to the 5:1 transformer as vertical ground plane antenna for DX.
