What £1500/Month Gets You Around London | ad

In this video I'm taking you to three VERY different flats around London, but they all cost the same to rent each month (the same as I pay for my one-bed flat in east London!) Compare each flat's size and location to see the variation on what you can afford when renting in London, and the compromises you have to make depending on whether you prefer size or location when renting a flat in London.

Not gonna lie, that Croydon extra space would be very tempting.

Thanks for having me on your channel! I definitely made a conscious choice to balance space (both in terms of actual floorspace and functionality) and location. Everyone has different needs and wants, and this is what worked best for me. :)

This is a great video! I love all your content, but the videos where you tour and compare flats and hotels is so interesting. I hope you have a great holiday season!

I just moved from Fulham. Took me about two-three months to decide where to go and if I wanted location or space. Decided on space. No regrets. I love love love my new flat and area!

This is a great video.
I was actually surprised that you found anything even remotely liveable for £1500.
I could handle the one in Croydon but not the one in Knightsbridge.
I really do like Andres' flat as well but only if I was his age!!
A Murphy bed would not have bothered me in my 20s but that's been many years ago for me.

The studio at Knightsbridge was really cute but that price is definitely high for what you get in terms of size. I would definitely go for size over location! The folded bed on the last flat looks amazing and the balance on space and location is definitely great!

That's such a great ad integration, they should pay you a double fee for that :) Love everything related to flat hunting in London, I've changed accommodation in London so many times that trying to find this perfect balance has really become sort of a game for me.

Great video!
The cost of rent in London is so depressing. Let’s not forget the cost of energy!

St. John’s Wood and Maida Vale have lots of one bedroom rentals - you can find something here for around £1500. And the area is super nice and safe.

We lived in London about 3 years ago, in Blackheath (Zone 3).
- We rented a three bed terraced house, well... two and an office really
- It was about a 20-25 min train ride/stand to London Charing Cross, less for London Bridge or Waterloo
- No concierge or shared gym... but you didn't need to go down 15 floors to pick-up your Deliveroo or go down an ungodly amount of stairs when the lift was broken

It cost us £1, 550 PCM ex-bills

You can find the bargains if you sacrifice location, most people put such a high value on location though above space.

That was very interesting! I‘ve seen quite a bit of bandwidth during my 14 years in London. One time I was shown a “room” in a flatshare in Maida Vale. For £700 (in 2008), and it was not much more than a box 😂 As you say, location isn’t everything. To find the right balance — plus not living in a flatshare — took me 8 years.

What a great Segway to the The Google Pixel 6 Pro. Interesting choice of flat options (Wapping got my vote). The flyover is a real "feature" of Croydon.... Sadly the Beko washing machine's says as much about the Knightsbridge flat as does the rusty radiator it's situated adjacent to. Really enjoyed watching !

Like in most big cities. Apartments in central Sydney costs an arm and leg yet a same size apartment 30 kilometres away can be rented for half that of the CBD. it's a compromise between location, size and cost.

It doesn't really matter. 1500£ is more then working class salary. If + bills it will be 150% cashier or hotel workers salary.

This is so informative and interesting at the same time! I’ll remember your comments when looking for a flat next year :)

Wow great watch. Even though I love to visit London, I think I will stick to my 4 bedroom detached house in Plymouth in beautiful Devon. Must be a great adventure to live in London though. Thanks again.👍👏👏

Yeah, seriously, I cannot believe there's a flat in Knightsbridge for £1, 500. But it's really tiny. Like Paris tiny.

My house on the Nile is only $2, 400 for a year. Or we can exchange houses for a year
