This is the sound of a dead / bricked M1 MacBook Air, killed by using it with a USB-C hub with power delivery.

will it be a problem if my hub has power delivery but I only use it for the HDMI output? what i plan to do is to charge my macbook directly using apple's charger and only an HDMI cable is connected to the hub. thanks so much and please excuse my lack of knowledge on this

I'm so sorry to see that happen to you. So it's much safer just to charge the computer directly into one USB port with the charger included. But in this way, you lose one Thunderbolt/USB C 3.2 port. THE BIG QUESTION now is: does the power delivery USB C port on the hub also allow for data transfers, i.e. so that you could use it to connect your phone or USB C external SSD? What to look for when shopping for these hubs? Thanks in advance for the answer.

Holy shit, I have an M1 air on order with the Anker 7 in 2 hub awaiting it...so hub can be used just not powering through it to the macbook, but on battery seems to be ok, that's the gist?

What does "with power delivery" mean in this context? Power delivered from the computer to the device via the hub, or power delivered to the computer via the hub?

Well that’s stopped me from ordering an air or pro. What’s the point if you can’t charge via 3rd party quality dock. These docks are upwards of £200 plus. I thought this is supposed to be an advantage of usb-c. Apple pull your finger out and sort it !
