Esther gets her revenge on Brenda...

Damn, that playground. I may be 25 but I would use my nieces and nephews as an excuse any day to play on that thing.

When Brenda was with her Friends, she was the Abusive Bully of the School, making a point of focusing on Esther, just because she was new and didn't fall into her definition of "Normal". She personally took it upon herself to single out Esther and show her how worthless she is.
Yet, in the Playground, on her own, she continues to stare at Esther, scrutinize her. It is also clear that without her little Friends, she's a jittery, jumpy, timid little coward who is afraid of her own shadow.
Her eyes were shifting knowing someone was going to get her, JUMPED when she heard the slightest noise. THAT tells you that she is a Coward who abuses those who can't fight back.
I hate to admit, but several people in the theatre I was in cheered when she got what probably had been coming to her for years.
The other thing is, there ARE Kids like this in real life who go out of their way to make the life of someone who is disabled, from a Foreign country, etc miserable. Many Parents have this "Oh, My little Girl would never do that." Then wonder why things like this happen.

LOL - this scene was obviously shot at the great big 'mediaeval castle' playground in Toronto's High park! :D I always said the place would make the perfect locale for a movie... Looks like someone beat me to it!

Brenda crying right when she falls sounds so much like exactly how a real hurt kid sounds (my sisters cried like that when they got hurt) it unnerves me.

Even though Esther is a psycho, I was mixed about her pushing the girl. The girl was mean to her and Esther hadn't done anything wrong to her before this and so I kind of felt Brenda deserved it. Shows her to not pick on people...that looked painful too O_O

I know the fact that Esther is evil, but I’m incredibly satisfied of this scene because Brenda was abusive bully to Esther and got what’s coming to her and learned a lesson

In the original screenplay, Esther stabs and kills Brenda with a pair of scissors she got out of a teacher's desk during parents students night at the school. Brenda had forgot something in their classroom, all the students and parents were in the auditorium at the time, Esther had waited for Brenda inside the classroom behind the door, she shut the door, and mauled Brenda and stabbed her repeatedly killing her. Just like she did John near the end of the film. A hint of this scene is where sister Abigail visits and discusses a boy stabbing himself with a pair of scissors. The scene was never filmed due to filmmakers didn't want backlash due to violence in schools.
