CONTEXT!!
So this girl is there adopted daughter! The kid is actually a 32 year old woman trapped in a young girls body, but she has some growth disorder so you can’t tell.
Well anyways these people adopt her without knowing that she’s a psychopath.

In this scene the girl (esther) is trying to poison the mother. The reason why is that she has a crush on the dad, and she doesn’t want them together, (also bc she’s a murderer 😭) that’s why she didn’t want him drinking it.

Isabelle is so good in this role. It was so impressive to see her in the first one. She was nine when they started filming the original and she learned an Estonian accent and sign language for it, not to mention that she took on a very serious role as a kid. I have so much respect for Isabelle Fuhrman.

Guys if u thought what was happening, Esther (the little girl) tried poisoning the mom for revenge because the mom tried poisoning her, and she gave it to a rat and the rat died, and Esther put the rat posion in the drink and wanted the mom to drink it, but the mom knew so she acted like she took a sip of it, but really the drink didn’t touch a part of her mouth. And when Esther wasn’t looking, she poured it out because she KNEW it was posion. Because she was able to recognize it.

Yeah, so the 'girl' was given food by the woman that was poisoned so she gave it to a rat that she found to see if it was posioned. She later came back to find the rat was dead so she made the woman her favorite smoothie and put the rat in their for karma {It's been awhile since I watched it but that was the main context I know about for this scene.}

Orphan summary:
The little girl is actually in her 30’s and she’s a crazy person. She pretended to be their daughter but from day one the mom and the brother new bc the daughter actually died but the dad didn’t know. The little girl AKA the 30 year old lady fell in love with the dad so the mom tried to poison her. The girl didn’t want it so she fed it to the rat in the vents but the rat died bc the food was poisoned. The 30 year old put the rat in the drink.

so for those who don’t get it this women thought that this girl was her real daughter but she found out that she is actually 32 years old woman and she is psychologically ill the woman finds out all of this by reading her diary..
the woman threatened her with death but she kept that as a secret, the psycho woman tried to het along with her stepmother’s husband she tried to seduce him so the next day she made a smoothie… she put a rat in it that she used to play with she killed it and then she used it to make a smoothie 💀

the smoothie isn't poisoned like most comments saying. the context is actually that she tried to poison the mother with dinner beforehand, but she doesn't eat it. Esther leaves it in her room where a mouse she befriends, eats it and dies. Esther put the dead mouse in the smoothie.

For those who probably didnt see.. she poisoned a rat that she saw in her room one evening.. and she put put it in the smoothie so that she would die and be poisoned. In the end part whrn she threw the smoothie away there was something thick stuck in the drain. Thats the dead rat's body. Reason is she likes her "dad" and wants him all for herself. Also because she's a murderer, she's actually an adult in the body fo a child. But not really, she just has this condition that made her look like a child, have a height and face of a child.

Context:
That “kid” is a 30 something year old woman with a disorder so she stopped growing at a young age and looks like she’s a kid. She’s mentally ill and escaped from a hospital and pretended to be these parents lost child who went missing. The mom knew what REALLY happened to her daughter and found out about Esther’s plan (which they made a deal that she could stay since having a daughter again made the father happy, but Esther only stayed because she liked the husband) so spiked her food with pills, which Esther fed to that mouse without realizing since it was like her “pet.” Upset with what happened she put the dead mouse in the smoothie as shown.
I’m too lazy to reread that so if somethings wrong Im going off of what I remember since I haven’t watched the movies in a few months. And I’m redoing this since the pinned comment wasn’t 100% true.

So for those who don’t get it that little girl‘s name her name is Esther. They said that she’s from Russia when really she’s from Estonia. She has hormone problems and she looks like a nine-year-old wanna really she’s a 32-year-old she’s a psychopath she has a mental illness and the movie name is called orphan. She’s trying to kill her parents later in the movie you’ll see how she likes the tree House on fire and kills her own brother, and then kills her dad, but the only people that have survived is the mother and daughter not Esther the others daughters name I forgot but she’s deaf.

The fact they made a movie ab this even tho the real case the girl was proven to be a little girl that was abandoned unattended in a house with no way to cook for herself or take care of herself and the adopted parents were sent to prison for this and they still made this show ab the young girl being a killer
