God bless and stay safe my brothers and sisters in Alabama and Mississippi. I hope the storms dont get bad. Bill Murry did a great job on this video. Very informative.

Thanks for the detailed summary, Bill, and a strange Happy Easter, everyone . I've got 66 here in Eufaula at 0925 with a dewpoint of 59 after a chilly low of 43. My wind is still easterly with no swing to the south, meaning the warm front is still offshore. The surface map shows the front just onshore in LA and TX but still several hundred miles offshore from us. Watch the temperature and dewpoint at your own locations and that will tell you how far north the warm front has moved.

It looks like the storms are slowing a bit, with the dryline still back in central TX. That's good since the storms will have less daylight and heating to work with when they get here, but not so good since it means the first and second line will be coming through after dark down here in SE Alabama. The cap here looks pretty stout, weakening some as you go west. How well that cap holds will be an important thing for how severe the storms can get. Unfortunately, predicting how well a cap holds is not much more than an educated guess.

Overall, those of you in the western part of the state are, as usual, most at risk for these storm, and especially from strong winds and hail. Things aren't quite as concerning in SE Alabama, but all of us are under some risk. Don't get caught up watching the lines. Keep an eye on any isolated cells forming on either side of the lines as these are typically where strong tornadoes are spawned.

Finally, and for heavens sake, just this one day, don't worry about coronavirus. I'm rather flabbergasted that the NWS and DPH felt it necessary to issue a statement telling people it was and acceptable risk to go to a community shelter where there were {gasp!} other people present. S tornado bearing down on you is a much greater risk than a virus.

Looks like the SPC didn't pull the trigger on a high risk. However, 5/31/2013 was also a moderate risk

I am in mobile, and I had a very bad feeling when I woke up and saw how hard the wind was blowing. My power went out 5 or 6 times.

Color or not to color.

It's just gonna be bad in AL. Lets just have our right mind frame on, and make good decisions concerning today and tonight.

Stay safe y'all!

Drinking game: every time he says "ugh" take a shot

Edit: but seriously I hope today doesn't end up being like April 27th or something similar ...
