Trump refuses to fund projects to replace the century-old Northeast Corridor infrastructure from the Pennsylvania Railroad days, same as Christie did during his time. Meanwhile many NJ Transit engineers left for other railroads like Metro-North, so transit is currently in the process of pushing multiple classes of both conductors and engineers. Infrastructure-related issues, such as switch and signal problems, are relatively few and far between on NJT-owned lines as opposed to Amtrak's line because Amtrak needs that federal funding to replace it. And since Amtrak's Northeast Corridor is pretty much the spine of the transit system, a blockage on the corridor means blockage on every line
