It’s gonna be really funny if the workers just decide to strike anyway because this isn’t a deal they wanted. You can’t force them to work.

Is not the Federal government intervention to avoid a railroad strike ruling by kingship or dictatorship? I thought I was in a free market capital society. What product or service are they socializing next?

Does this mean the government is taking over this private enterprise? I am really confused here. How can the government force a private company to give huge raises and negotiate the terms and force an agreement? Someone please explain.

*One week later*

“Mr. President, now that you’ve signed legislation to stop the railroad strike, what are the next steps in the negotiations to help workers”?

“What strike”?

I just don’t understand why not give them sick leave???? Do they expect them to work no matter how sick they are? This makes no sense to me at all!!! Give them their sick leave it’s not brain surgery it’s a basic human right!

Continue the fight as in put it on the back burner until the media stops covering it. Then do nothing for the workers

Every employer should have paid sick leave for their employees. Dam shame the union railway doesn't do it. People do get sick, including employers.

It is extremely disappointing that 43 Senators voted to prioritize the corporate greed of rail carriers and CEOs over the needs and quality-of-life improvements that our members so desperately deserve, " said the SMART Transportation Division, or SMART-TD, which represents about 28, 000 conductors, making it the nation's largest rail union.

This is bull the workers have been fighting for this for decades. I won't be surprised if they still strike.

This rail strike has not been averted yet. All bite and signed here was an executive order effectively forcing the route workers to not go on strike again. But the only way to guarantee that they honor that is to rule out the national guard and possibly arrest thousands of people when they go on strike in December 24th.

I encourage all who voted against the deal just to have it enforced by the federal government to resign and cause turmoil. If they try to stop people from resigning, them the government is acting tyrannically.

Wonder if they wildcat?

Averted? They sold the workers about for their PSR. The bosses are trying to exploit the workers as much as possible and make the commodities, and it hurts the customers also, all for the RECORD PROFITS of the super rich shareholder activists and bosses.
