Biden announces tentative deal to avert rail strike

President Biden hailed a "tentative agreement" reached early Thursday between rail companies and labor unions that he said would mean workers will "get better pay, improved working conditions, and peace of mind around their health care costs." If they had failed to reach an agreement, a work stoppage would have disrupted freight and passenger services. Watch the president's remarks.

I know a strike would be detrimental, but this contract is detrimental to $150, 000 Union brothers and sisters! a worker that has to be on call 24/7 except for a small amount of time 30 days a year a union that doesn't have paid holidays doesn't have paid sick days does not have ever increasing vacation is abandoning trade union principles. Thay need to be forced to hire more workers at a substantial amount at least another hundred thousand immediately! The workers need 15 paid sick days a year but they're trying to just fight for non paid sick days that won't go against them, this contract only includes one more paid day off, not to mention the language in the contract to use these days. Biden says to cap insurance that simply means the insurance premium deductible is going up it's not an added benefit it's a deduction in there benefits, That are still getting a decent raise but they haven't gotten raise in 3 years. I'm a big Union man, Union member I support the structure of a union but that does not mean that I'm blind to the union bureaucrats or human nature I'm a democratic voter but I know when it comes down to it the Democrats will abandoned the working class maybe in some instances the working class throughout history has been unreasonable for more times than not the answer is the working class is not un reasonable in this situation they are definitely not unreasonable. let's not forget Truman threatening to draft the railroad workers into the army.
