Patient's are often concerned about recovery time. All of our patients are busy. They like to get back to their ordinary activities as quickly as possible. Everybody's concerned about downtime. Patients will ask how long does it take to recover after blepharoplasty. In my experience with our patients, blepharoplasty is about a 45 minute outpatient procedure. We typically address the upper and lower eyelids in the same setting. In my experience, most patients will return to work about five to seven days after upper and/or upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty.

There maybe some bruising. There maybe some swelling, but much of this is improved within five to seven days. Within five to seven days, patients can resume their ordinary activities, apply makeup, go back to work, go back to school, resume their social activities. I do ask my eyelid patients to refrain from heavy lifting, bending, and vigorous activity for up to one month after surgery, but within a week most have resumed work and social activities.
