If I'm not mistaken, the fact that light cannot escape from a black hole
can also be explained as a result of the curvature of spacetime.
(general relativity)
The light follows the geodesics.
These are so strongly curved by the mass of the black hole that light cannot escape.
But of course I could be wrong.
