What I love about these videos is that they make it clear that Alexandra and basically any player with an OTB rating over 2000 is on a completely different level than the majority of us, and also that GM's make them look like amateurs in regards to how they see the board and the possibilities. It really does become more like art than calculation in the way GM's approach positions. I remember enjoying watching the Hikaru/Levy videos where they did the same thing and Hikaru's grasp of the position relative to Levy's was like a first-team All-NBA compared to a D-league player. Both are some of the best in the world, but it's clear that one is in a different League.

Danya is amazing at puzzles. Those puzzles would have taken me much, much longer. It was cool to see your calculations processes. I really hope this series continues where you can take 10+ minutes. Also Danya picked freaking complex puzzles.

Always enjoying Danya explaining the OTB classical calculation process.

One of the best real chess videos I’ve ever seen… and I’ve seen plenty of speed runs & such (not much into “content creator” stuff).
The insights aren’t preachy but natural & down to earth.🙏
Enjoying the recent game analysis talking through your thoughts (I call it “chess out loud”) and this one for the same reason.

“what else could I be missing in this position? A lot of times when we miss tactics it’s because within the first few seconds we convince ourselves the move has to exploit certain (obvious) features of the position” love this quote by Danya

It's cool whenever you improve at chess because when looking at these puzzles, I looked at the same moves as Alex, but Danya obviously looked way further than us. Please post more these are very instructional!!!

For someone unfamiliar with the rating, watch Spirit of the Law video on how Elo rating works... It can be applied to any competitive game. He analysed Elo for Age of Empires but the same rules apply, albeit with slight differences.

Wow! So many possibilities so quickly! I see a need to relax in spite of competition. Thanks for a clever short!

The conversation about puzzles reminded me of my math classes in college. If the question asked us to prove something, we at least knew it was true. The trickiest questions were the ones where they asked us to “prove or disprove.”

I missed where the puzzles are coming from? What's the source? Looks like a fun (and crazy challenging) book
