A few years ago my wife, dad and I went trout fishing at American lake. She used powerbait and my dad said, what's that crap? You're not going to catch anything on that, and laughed. Needless to say he was fishing powerbait later and she had the last laugh, and still let's him hear about it every time we go fishing.

I've only caught catfish and starry flounder using the pink balls and garlic balls with worm. I had several trout bite my bottom set-up with the corn dough at Lacamas Lake, but am too inexperienced to know when to set the hook. I have learned so many things from you, Jordan. I need something that imitates an orange newt. Decades ago, while on a family trip upstate, I had a one hour window to make a foray into the woods to fish the local trout stream. I turned over a rock and found a newt. I fished with that wriggling critter to no avail because I was too young to understand that if I could see the trout then the trout could _see_ me. When the time came to head back to where my family was still enjoying the picnic I unhooked the newt and threw it in the center of a clear, deep pool and the biggest brook trout I'd ever seen (still to this day) left its rocky grotto and rolled on that newt flashing its bright-white belly. A memorable moment and lesson.
