Urban planning has origins in architecture, engineering, economics and governance. Once made, urban investments are not easily undone. You want to get it right!

Uwe Brandes, faculty director for the Master's in Urban & Regional Planning at Georgetown SCS, shares how metropolitan regions around the world are projected to swell to 3 billion people in just a few short decades. This means that every city must learn to manage new risks and deliver new value.

Urban planners will need to know how to integrate and apply knowledge in a place and community-based way. The Master's in Urban & Regional Planning program at Georgetown University is designed around the community of practice. They are producing a new generation of city builders and community developers who are focused on equitable, resilient, and sustainable outcomes that cities around the world desperately need.
