Fritz Haber was a German chemist who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1918 for his invention of the Haber–Bosch process, a method used in industry to synthesize ammonia from nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas.
This invention is important for the large-scale synthesis of fertilisers and explosives. It is estimated that one-third of annual global food production uses ammonia from the Haber–Bosch process, and that this supports nearly half of the world's population.

Haber, a known German nationalist, is also considered the "father of chemical warfare" for his years of pioneering work developing and weaponising chlorine and other poisonous gases during World War I.
He first proposed the use of the heavier-than-air chlorine gas as a weapon to break the trench deadlock during the Second Battle of Ypres.
His work was later used, without his direct involvement to develop Zyklon B, used for the extermination of more than 1 million Jews in gas chambers in the greater context of the Holocaust.

Many people are confused so let me explain,

Fritz haber did not betray his race or his country,
He was very much loyal to his country,
He was promoted to the position of captain in the German army for his contribution in developing and weaponizing chlorine and other poisonous gasses during World War I.
He said, It would shorten the war.
After the Nazi rise to power in 1933, Haber was forced to resign from his positions because he was Jewish.
His work was later used, without his direct involvement to develop Zyklon B used for the
extermination of more than 1 million Jews in gas chambers including his relatives.
Thus the title of the video is the cruellest irony not the cruellest betrayal.

the reason he was awarded the nobel prize in chemistry was his part in the invention of the Haber-Bosch process, which allowed for the mass production of nitrogen fertilizer, which to this day is the main reason we have large scale farming and can feed billions of people in the world without the fear of having crop failure/bad harvests like in the time before.

He created fertilizer that has literally saved billions of people from starvation

He died in 1934, before WWII even started.

Ain’t this the same dude who’s feeding almost half the entire world?

He was up for the Nobel prize for producing a way to make fertilizer

The founder of the noble peace prize (Alfred Noble) was also the inventor of dynamite. A weapon which is responsible for at the time thousands of deaths he wanted his name to be remembered for something of good so founded the award.

He is also the reason most people living today are not starving to death!

The amount of blind self righteousness to try to destroy this man is pure idiocy.

If you've never come across the Haber process - youve haven't learnt basic chemistry .

Ok so he was a jew who was a loyal subject of the German empire pre 1918. And as a loyal subject he worked with a team of chemists to produce chemical weapons as ordered by the government. He loved Germany.
He didn't have any idea of Nazis or gas chambers. This was 25 years before all that. He died in 1934 well before WW2.

The loyal scientists of the West created the atom bomb dropped on Japan twice. Oppenheimer Szilard Von Neuman Feynman Bethe Franck Frisch Wigner Teller were among dozens of Jewish scientists who built the bomb in the Manhattan project. These jewish scientists probably saved 500, 000 American troops' lives by incinerating 150, 000 Japanese and forcing surrender. Was that a good deal?

Almost everyone alive today owes their life to him too, we would have ran out of food a long time ago if it wasn't for his work

You should have included why he was up for the nobel prize. It makes the story even starker

Well that is the problem right there! Rewarding horrific things? Might as well give people a Nobel prize for mass murder also!

The Nobel Peace Prize has always been a sick joke.

Haber played a major role in the development of the non-ballistic use of chemical warfare in World War I, in spite of the proscription of their use in shells by the Hague Convention of 1907 (to which Germany was a signatory). He was promoted to the rank of captain and made head of the Chemistry Section in the Ministry of War soon after the war began. In addition to leading the teams developing chlorine gas and other deadly gases for use in trench warfare and those actions is what lead him to be a war criminal

*In 2019, * PM Abiy Ahmed was awarded the Noble Peace Prize for Politics to recognize his accomplishment of obtaining "peace" between Ethiopia & Eritrea. (All while consolidating power and undemocratizing Ethiopia.)
*In 2020, * PM Abiy Ahmed initiated a war against a regional state with the help of Eriteria. His loyalist forces committed the Tigray Genocide and weaponized starvation, rape, & hunger. (All for further centralization of power away from regional states.)
