I like the idea of getting rid of the cassette and derailer as it's such a vulnerable part. Changing gear on the motor is the way forward in my eyes.

The best bike this year for me was the bulls with the Sachs motor 113nm is really nice. this takes 2nd place for a motor after the brose which is so natural. I hope to see a touring bike with Sachs it would be awesome. Just had a chance to try the flyon, the Allmtn 8.0 rides nicely, well balanced geometry but is heavier than the Sachs.

I think the move to 1x12 drive trains is a mistake even on high end emtbs.
Really 9 speeds will get you there, and integrating that as Cervelho are trying is going to be just right for trail riders

If motors and batteries keep reducing in size and weight I can see a new hybrid bike being developed which is light enough to be normally ridden and pedalled unassisted apart from the occasional boost.

Because we don't all want to spend stupid money on expensive high spec ebikes, would really like to see more BB mounted kits from more manufacturers instead of the dismissive passing over of this approach.

Panasonic motor 👍 as they already have the best lithium batteries available to match.

I was thinking internal gear motor was the way forward but looking at the french design i couldn't help wonder about wear tear/oil/cooling etc are they going to end up like suspension and need regular specialist servicing. If there's failure is it going to be an expensive fix equivalent of replacing cassette, rear mech and freehub (ask any car guy about gear box rebuilds - been their cried for days).

Is there any more companies that are going for the bolt on type motors that just attach to the bottom bracket of an existing regular bike? Bafang does one bit is there any more on display there?
