Once Mel Brooks' lunatic film, many call his best, gets started, logic is lost in a blizzard of gags, jokes, quips, puns, howlers, growlers and outrageous.

RIP Mongo. You were the greatest pawn in the game of life.

That Richard Pryor-written...Alex Karras-delivered line is one of the most classic in cinematic history! Shakespeare himself would have beamed with pride!

This movie never gets old to watch commercial free it’s original form! Absolutely genius by Mel Brooks, hands-down the funniest movie ever made.

I could watch that film time after time. A Mel Brooks classic.

R.I.P. Cleavon Little (1939-1992), Alex Karras (1935-2012) and Gene Wilder (1933-2016).

Mongo is often portrayed as being a one dimensional character, but he is actually surprisingly multi faceted.

One of the funniest movies ever made. I find it sad knowing that the three remaining cast members of this movie, Mel Brooks, Burton Gilliam, and the lady that played the governor's secretary all played bad guys in this movie.

Rest in peace,
Slim Pickens (taggart)
Harvey korman (Hedley lamarr)
Cleavon little (Bart)
Alex karras (mongo)
Gene Wilder (Waco kid)
Madeline Kahn (Lily von schtupp)
Dom deluise (burlesque director)
And anyone else who had a part in this movie that's no longer with us.

That line is the genius of Richard Pryor

The fact that Mongo never got a book deal after such a life altering quote is a shame before humanity.

We may all be pawns, but to me you were a knight! RIP Mongo.

Great scene. Very sad that we've lost them all.

"Mongo Impressed!" I often say that. :-)

Heh heh. You can tell that Karras was about to break out in laughter himself, too.

Mel said this brilliant, classic line was written by the equally brilliant Richard Pryor...if it's not the greatest comedy of all time, it's in the Top 3. (and I didn't get a "harumph" from that guy!)...

Mongo might not have been a gentleman but he was definitely a scholar

Didn't know he was on the Detroit Lions and was a four time Pro Bowler! Go Mongo.
