****vitamin D2 is obtained from exogenous source -which is also known as ergocalciferol not ergosterol ****

Hope it will be helpful for you.

Do you know why we study calcium and phosphate together?
-they are regulated by same hormones
-they are chief component of bone and teeth

Transcellular transport is subject to hormonal control where as hormone can not regulate paracellular transport.

There are 3 major hormones and 3 organs in calcium and phosphate homeostasis
Hormones-Parathyroid hormone,vitamin D ,calcitonin
Organs-intestine,bone,kidney

Calcitriol or 1,25 dihydroxycholecalciferol is acgive form of vitamin D.
