Isaac theorizes on every aspect of how King Candy or Turbo took over Sugar Rush!

When you’re in a video game in the arcade from the film Wreck-It Ralph, all of the video game characters fear other game characters going Turbo. You see, long ago, Turbo was the protagonist of THE most popular game in the arcade Turbo Time until another racing game called Roadblasters was brought to the arcade. Turbo’s attention began to fade making him envious. With his jealousy flaring, Turbo abandoned his own game and attempted to take over Roadblasters, but he did not succeed; his attempt merely left both games unplugged and discarded leaving many to believe Turbo was gone, except he wasn’t. Turbo survived the destruction of his game and after years of hiding, in 1997 when the racing game Sugar Rush was plugged in, Turbo entered the source code, removed Princess Vanellope Von Schweetz and took control under the alias King Candy, but this success didn’t make sense to me though. Why did Turbo break Road Blasters but not Sugar Rush? How did he figure out how to enter the source code? Why is there a lock on the source code and why is King Candy’s information so large? Today I plan on discovering the answers to all of these questions.

I post every Tuesday and Thursday, so check back then for more Disney, Pixar, Harry Potter, Star Wars and movie videos! If you have any questions about the Disney universe that you would want answered in a video, please ask away in the comment section!

What I loved was all the hints of the twist. Pink castle, royal puns, hints of Candy's motives. Made an excellent twist.

Is it just me who finds it strange that King Candy feeds his subjects candy, but his subjects are also candy?

King Candy could have solved all his problems if he just programmed Vanelope as his daughter. Ralph would have just got the medal and gone back to Fix it Felix. King Candy would still be in power and no one would know he was Turbo

But here's the real question. How was no one else in the arcade aware of his overthrow of Princess Vanellope? He only locked away the memories of Sugar Rush. But other characters in the arcade clearly interact with each other and remember them by name and personality, like when Fix-It Felix says "There's Mario. Fashionably late, per the norm." This means that either Sugar Rush was so ignored by the other games that they didn't even notice or Turbo took over so quickly after it was installed that the others didn't have time to notice.

I just wanna point out the single, lone electrical dot traveling super-slowly compared to the Pac-Train at 0:31-0:33.
Turbo effing _drove_ all the way to _RoadBlasters_ in his car.

Seriously. What a nutcase. I love him.

I love this theory. I have my own theory for the size of King Candy's code. Expert programmers learn how to make their codes more efficient, using fewer lines of code than an amateur. Maybe King Candy, being self-taught doesn't know how to keep his code smaller

*First Comment

King Candy was one of the most intriguing villains Disney has made and perhaps one of the few instances where the "surprise villain" was done right. Both the audience and myself were surprised that King Candy and Turbo were the same person!

Thanks for the video Isaac.

Here’s another thought:

His catchphrase was “turbotastic”

And he compulsively says it as it’s in his code. So he intelligently created a new catchphrase using the exact amount of syllables

“Tons of candy!”

“Who are you? The guy that makes the donuts?” That line really made me chuckle, especially since Turbo realized he wasn’t getting the immediate attention he desired.

I forgot where I read this info from, but I remember reading that the writers of Turbo said that " He was hiding away deep in the bowels of GCS growing more and more bitter, learned a thing or two about code, saw Sugar Rush plugged in and made his move before anyone played the game. That’s our story and we’re stickin to it" *BTW I KNOW THIS BY MEMORY*

If I ever do find the site again, I could paste the link in the comment if you want

One thing I find kinda odd is how none of the players ever noticed Vanellope’s absence throughout the years, which would have been Turbo/King Candy’s one fatale flaw to his plan. If one of the players mentions how confused they are as to why Princess Vanellope isn’t on the roster and is instead replaced by some unknown character, then that would make the Sugar Rush racers and citizens grow suspicious of KC. Another awful scenario that could happen would be if the players tell Litwak about the problem and lead him to think the game is broken and unplug it, making KC/Turbo homeless again while also dooming the Sugar Rush characters and Vanellope!

I think that during the time Turbo was M.I.A, he was not only coming up with his method to completely take over a game so he will always be number one. But he might have went into different games while wearing a disguise (kind of like when Ralph put on the armor that belonged to one of the game character's from the newly installed game, "Heroes Duty"). My reason for thinking this is that after Turbo's first attempt failed, he decided to be more cautious and think things through. Since he is a racing type character, Turbo must have automatically decided to avoid games that had nothing to do with racing. Trying out different games that had to do with racing, as well as making sure that the racing game were popular enough for him to get the attention he wants. Because as much as he wants to have all the attention on him, I can see him being very prideful and aware of his own strengths & weaknesses when it comes to certain types/genre of games. Plus, he considers himself the greatest racer ever and the likelihood of him abandoning that title/letting someone else take that title away from him is very low.

Could Turbo’s fellow racers have died when the game got unplugged.

Your theory was well laid Issac. Especially when comparing the elevator with your own studies. Very astute. I love Wreck it Ralph and find King Candy/Turbo to be an intriguing and complex character. Have a magical day as well.

Turbo is still alive
Hiding out there
Rewatch the entire movie
Listen carefully to what sonic said
And remember the code room

There's what looks like part of a rotting corpse behind Turbo when Turbo told Vanelope who he was. That could have been the real King Candy. King Candy likely was an npc who may have been related to Vanelope as she is PRINCESS Vanelope. This is inspired by something I saw pointed out and another theory video I had watched.
