The 1-year warranty for the 9900KS (as opposed to the 3-year warranty of the 9900K) has nothing to do with less confidence in the product by Intel. It is because Intel will only be manufacturing the 9900KS for only 2-3 months, while the typical production SKUs like the 9900K are in production for at least 3 years since their launch. When the production of a certain part ceases, Intel can only guarantee that it keeps enough stock for replacements equivalent to the estimated number of potential replacements (plus some safety margin) that would be needed for one year without the part being in production.

Great review Luke! Its impressive, but the low 1 yr warranty and high price kills it.

will anyone be buying the 9900KS - or would you rather get a Ryzen 3000 CPU?

Excellent review the UK pre order price is £555 scan and £599 OC uk that is too much vs performance and one year warranty

Shows the H100X and has a H150I box in the background that he could of used instead. If you have a 9900K or this chip you need a 360 mm AIO at the least. I have a H105 with the thicker radiator and 4 120mm JET FLO Cooler Master fans on it and even that wouldn't be enough for this monster.

Intel’s 9900KS is a highly-binned 9900K, with 300MHZ better all-core stock clocks, 200-300MHz higher overclocking headroom and it consumes up to 25% less power at equal clocks. Ah and to produce the 9900KS, Intel created an entire new mask for a new core stepping for the 9900K lineup and bin from that. It costs 25 dollars more. AMD’s 3800X is a very-mildly binned 3700X, with a mere 100/150MHZ better single/all core turbo stock clocks and not a better overclocker. No new stepping created to create it either. Yet it costs $399, 70 dollars more than the $329 of 3700X. Also let’s not forget that AMD released a 2700X “Gold Edition” which was 100% identical in everything to a regular 2700X (no binning, no new stepping, no better stock cocks, no nothing) and retailed for 40-80 dollars more because it had Lisa Su’s signature imprinted on the IHS…

1.38v for out of box 5Ghz and you thought that was normal? Why didn't you go back and actually tune the chip and see what voltage it actually takes. Your hint should have been getting 5.2Ghz all cores at 1.39v. My 9900KS runs 5ghz around 1.2v which leads to extremely cold temps and far lower power consumption.

Idk if there is something in my bios that I don't have set right but I cannot get a stable 5.2 with my chip.

what vcore did you need for manual stable 5 Ghz. thanks for the video.

I have a normal 9900k 5, 2Ghz all cores on AVX.

again another very confused and missleading review, you buy the KS because it does 5.0 at 1.24 and LLC 7 on Asus like mine or 5.2 at 1.34. tha's the point !

I'm running the i9 9900ks at a stable 5.2 frequency while playing games.

You revealed you didn't like 1 year warranty because you can buy the k and lie about overclocking. lol.

No reason to upgrade from my 5ghz 9900k 🤷‍♂️

Dude intel has been on the same node and the same architecture for years. It's not really impressive they've gotten higher frequencies because being stuck on 14nm Intel has stagnated in everything else. You also need a hefty cooler to keep the i9 9900ks temps under any sort of control. Not exactly a product worthy of praise imo..more like Intels very own FX 9590.

Wow, your 9900ks sample is worse quality than my regular 9900k. So much variance in quality even when it's binned by the manufacturer.

5ghz on all cores, sounds like a normal overclocked 9900K. And the reason you buy 9900K instead of Ryzen is to overclock it to 5ghz.

How many here can tell the difference between say 100 and 150 FPS? Or 5 minutes and 4 minutes 30 seconds?
Apart from being able to advertise "I'm #1" Until the next latest greatest come to town who really cares?
Bloody brilliant performance is bloody brilliant.

how convenient that everybody released the video on the same time. Totally not the scam business involved.
