As a Latvian I can say - 9 EUR for a soup?! That place is ripping people off. This soup costs max 2-3 EUR. That being said it's a delicious soup, that is a local favorite.

Then again, you have eaten wt luxury places, hence the prices.

I suggest type visit Kuldīga, it's an awesome historical place and some of the food places there are exquisite.

Try eating at one of the Lido restaurants. I had a delicious curry dish there, along with a small salad, wine and dessert for less than twenty US dollars.

yeah bro u got on one of these tourists traps. 9eur isnt worth it. in a place called LIDO for that price u could try 3-4 types of latvian soups

I liked it. The hot dogs are interesting as they are smoked too. Also the chocolate is famous they have the bilberry chocolate factory. Borscht the best is Ukrainian as that's 😮where it's from but russian latvian are good too. Unfortunately the polish one not so healthy instead as it's artificial ingredients and dyes which can cause tumors.

Needed to test "aukstā zupa" ( cold soup) aswell. Maybe not the best for cold weather, but during summer is a must.
