Mimic - Getting Started

In this video, I give an introduction to Mimic, an open-source Maya plugin for the control of industrial robot arms.

Mimic is a free and open-source plugin for Autodesk Maya that enables simulation, programming, and control of 6-axis, Industrial Robots. It provides a robust and intuitive, animation-based toolset, allowing creators to prototype, validate, and drive automated systems.

Mimic was developed by Autodesk's Robotics Lab

Looks great! The company i work with just bought a robot arm. And my first complaint was that pre programming a camera shot. Was almost impossible and fine tuning long. This is precise what i suggested what they need for the future! Being able to show a director upfront what he can expect of the shot.

Hello, Is there any method to add Linear Tracks with robot as external axis in this plugin under maya

Is it possible to import a .script file from a robot and let it do the same movements? Trying to add vfx on robotarm footage in 3D so tracking is a pain otherwise

Hi Evan, nice video. Is it possible to control directly the industrial robot using mimic and through the maya software. Or is there any other software to control the robot incorporating the inverse Kinematic.

Hi Evan, i've been trying all sorts but I can't get Mimic to work in Maya. My directory isn't structured like yours and I have tried to place the files in all sorts of location and even load manually. When I load from the shelfs tab I can get the Mimic shelf to show but it won't load the rest of the programme. Got any advise? Thanks dude
